Yep glaring omission. That's a shoo in.Good list but you missed Malkin.
3 cup rings
Conn Smythe
Calder
Hart
Art Ross.
If that doesn't get you in then nothing will.

I should move Keith to very likely as well as Burns. You're correct he's not a lock. I was thinking that he was younger than 36No major issues with the list except for Brent Burns who is clearly not a lock for the Hall of Fame compared to other defencrman on the list
For parts of his early career he played forward because he was a bad defender.
He is a great offensive defence man at his peak when he jumped in to the rush all the time, but he does not have a great defensive rep.
In terms of defenceman, even with less points Duncan Keith and Drew Doughty have better cases for the hall of fame. In fact it’s not even close in my view
Start with Doughty.
- 2 Stanley cups to nil.
- While each has a Norris , Doughty has been top 3 4 times while Burns has been 3 times. Also Doughty has been top 10 in Norris voting 8 times while Burns has only been there 4 times.
- Doughty has two Olympic gold medals, Brett Burns has none. Also many Considered Doughty the best player at the 2014 olympics where he was named best D.
- Drew Doughty was named on the NHL 2010-2019 all decade first team. Brett Burns was not name to either first or second team.
Not only does Doughty have a better case as of today, he is 5 years younger.
Burns has 100 more points and is younger by 2 years. But you are correct Keith has a better resume. I think there's a good chance both get in.Burns vs Keith
-Keith has 2 Norris vs one for Burns.
- 3 Cups for Keith, including a Conn Smythe
- 7 Top 10 Norris finishes vs 4.
- 2 Olympic gold medals vs none
it’s not even close
Keith is a lock compared to Burns and will get in fairly quickly after eligible. . burns may have to wait a good while.
looking at this further I am not sure what is the case for Brent Burns over Shea Weber. he does have the Norris but most else leans to Weber. but it is not clear like Doughty and Keith.
Burns has a good shot to get in. I just don’t think he is close to that lock category with the others you had.Burns has 100 more points and is younger by 2 years. But you are correct Keith has a better resume. I think there's a good chance both get in.
He finished second 8 times. I imagine that is a record by a fair bit.He never won the Norris because he played in the wrong era, but Brad Park must have been high in the voting many times.
Karlsson hasn't been the same player since 2017. When he sustained fractures in his heel and had have tendons repaired as well. Unfortunately he mobility seems to be permanently affected.Just to add...Erik Karlsson has been a first team all-star four times...Roman Josi once...
He's not a long shot...he'll make it, he's been one of the NHL's best players for the last few years.I'm going to submit a player that everyone has over looked on that list.,
That being Brad Marchand. Here's his stats...https://www.espn.com/nhl/player/stats/_/id/3852/brad-marchand
This guy is one of the best 2 way players in the game right now........His career plus/minus stat of + 248 jumps out huge.
Now he's 33 so if he gets lucky he might have 3 or 4 more big years left in him. My guess is that he ends up with a 1000 points and somewhere around the 450 goal mark.
I've been watching some of the Bruins games and he never takes a shift off and is constantly creating scoring opportunities. Definitely one of the smarter players in the game at present.
Now I know he's got a history of chicanery and dirty play. But he seems to have reigned that in lately. He's also had some solid international stats as well.
He's a long shot for the hall but I think he is worth considering.
Erik Karlsson is clearly a tier or twoJust to add...Erik Karlsson has been a first team all-star four times...Roman Josi once...
I think he is still very likely Hall even if he continues to stagnate. The guy had 4 years where he was voted one of the two best D in the league. He has a very high “peak value”.Karlsson hasn't been the same player since 2017. When he sustained fractures in his heel and had have tendons repaired as well. Unfortunately he mobility seems to be permanently affected.
It's too bad because he was headed in HOF direction that's for sure.
As a Sens fan it was hard to watch his play decline and his exit from the team. But in the long run I'm glad he turned down the long term off the team extended to him.
Nothing would please me more to see him get back to his old self and resurrect his career but I just can't see it happening.
Let me start with Ryan Oreilly. Here is another question. Who are the Clark Gillies, Kevin Lowe, and Guy Carbonneau’s of today that will be getting in the hall in the 2040s?
Guys that most would not see as hall of famers when they played but a fair bit after they retired they end up clearing the low bar?
Typically any answers presented for this question will probably be met with skepticism.
Pretty tough question you're asking, "Who will make the HOF that doesn't deserve too?"...you'd have to look at the Montreal Canadien roster, they are usually the ones that would try to pull off some fuckery behind the scene. Here is another question. Ryan O'Reilly is a better choice than Carbonneau...Carbonneau sets a low bar.Let me start with Ryan Oreilly.
Oreilly has a deceptively good resume.Ryan O'Reilly is a better choice than Carbonneau...Carbonneau sets a low bar.
Part of the Montreal system is to place a premium on really good defensive forwards because they can shut down the other team's best scorer(s). A goal prevented is as good as a goal scored.I have never defended the Carbs pick. It was an odd one. Carbs and Gainey had the benefit of multiple cup wins.
The Montreal System...haha...so the idea of putting guy on the other teams top player is all about the Montreal Canadiens...I guess...who ever would have thought that would have been a good idea.Part of the Montreal system is to place a premium on really good defensive forwards because they can shut down the other team's best scorer(s). Claude Provost shut down Hull. We also saw how Phil Danault shut down the Leaf's Matthews in the playoffs last year.
"His lack of scoring was made up by his impressive ability to shut down opposing players. This impressed many scouts in the NHL and in 1973, he was drafted eighth overall by the Montreal Canadiens. He was also drafted seventh overall by the Minnesota Fighting Saints of the WHA although he never joined the WHA."
