I agree with what Charlie said in a pre-game interview. If they hadn't had to play in Dunedin,Buffalo this year it would have been a different season.A few more wins would have made a BIG difference at the end.
Didn't see the interview.......How did Buffalo cost them games?

Or take the money that Semien would have cost and invest it in pitching.......And that minimal that you call it is quite formidable.

Here's a question for ya........Marcus Stroman is a free agent and had a great year. Would you take a look at him?
Not sure. That guy is a bit of a drama queen. Not sure if we need that in the locker room.

Plus Springer being out for a stretch of games. It's not just his bat and play in the outfield but everyone plays better with him in the lineup

Everybody forgets that Kirby Yates was supposed to be the closer, and he missed the entire season following Tommy John surgery. He'll yield a compensation draft pick next June if a different team signs him.

The compensation draft picks are for free agents who sign with a new team after their current team offers them the one year qualifying offer salary. The new team doesn't lose draft picks, as in other North American teams sports; they're 'sandwich picks', sometime after the 10th pick in round 1, (dependent on the quality of the player, and the size/ length of his new contract). There's no doubt that the Jays will make qualifying offers to Ray and Semien, regardless of whether they intend to try to resign one or the other. I don't know anything about the status of Yates' rehab.

It sounds like you are saying that we should position ourselves to be slightly better than the opposition because of their weaknesses as opposed to seeing where we are and try to optimize it.

You may be correct but why not try to eliminate the margin of error for some unseen circumstances? If we lose Semien, why not directly compensate for his lack of production and leadership instead of saying, well, this should be good enough.
Because the money could be put into defence and pitching like Tampa does.

It didn't. In fact, for a power slugging team like the Jays, it probably helped.

What fucked them was having to use Dolis as the go-to guy in the Pen for half a season and having to use Thornton and Stripling as starters.

Looks like Gerrit Cole's dibs on the Cy just slid down the toilet a little further.

I suspect that his 2+ innings and 4 earned runs do not factor into an award given for regular season play.
That’s what they tell us. Lol.

All I know is neither the Red Sox or the Yankees deserve to be in this game! 🤢🤮…..May a fall-time outdoor parking lot bee sting them all in the fucking eyeball.

Myself, I was hoping for a bench clearing brawl that turned deadly and left both teams heaped dead in the outfield beneath the Green Monster. But I will take some satisfaction seeing those Yankee motherfuckers down 6-1.

And knowing that the Sox can't take the Rays in a series.....

Lol good one! Like a nuclear bomb went off in the middle of the diamond, and wiped through all living on field existence (except for the batboys and umpires).

We are as bitter as fuck, but imagine being an LA Dodgers fan (which I also am), winning 106 games since April, then having to play the one game wildcard against a red hot St. Louis Cardinals. Oooooh that’s painful to watch. As the Braves win their division with 88 wins.

I got family in St Louis and I can check out that game and chat to them on What's App while we watch. So I'll be cheering Cards tomorrow!
