We still don't know what Roberto Osuna did, sources tell me he threw his pregnant down a flight of stairs.

I'm against taking Alomar's name down from the Circle of Excellence. You have to separate the achievements from the man. By that standard Ty Cobb and Harold Ballard would have to be removed from their HOFs, that hasn't happened.

It's said that Mary Pierce loved sex, Robbie couldn't keep up, it cut short his career. Mary's career was cut short by a serious knee injury...loved her. She won two Slams, winning the French Open in 2000 to thunderous applause.

Good tennis player. Has a face that would curdle butter though. Shame. Not much opportunity to cash in on endorsements. Like Ovie in the NHL. When he tried to be the face of Mr.Big candy bars, sales actually went down. Good face for mucking in the corners of the NHL. For TV and mass-media advertising? Not so much....

Or maybe there wont be a lawsuit. I guess we'll never find out what really happened.
All we know is that its a female: https://outline.com/YvnZRP

“We applaud MLB for having this matter thoroughly investigated and for taking meaningful action against Mr. Alomar ... My client has no plans to file a lawsuit or take further action. She has not exposed Mr. Alomar’s behaviour for notoriety or for money and looks forward to moving on with her life. She simply wants to ensure that Mr. Alomar is held accountable ...”

What a sad time we live in. One wonders what kind of 'investigation' MLB even did. My guess is that they didn't even speak with Alomar or his representatives.
If the Blue Jays remove him from the row of honor I will cease my support for the team.

IMO, it's not an easy call, but I tend to agree with you.

If the HoF let's him stay for his accomplishments, the Jays should as well. Maybe they can put an asterisk beside his name on the Level.

Aside from the fact that your support for the team bothers them not a bit, I am going to suggest that this was thoroughly investigated and the team and league has concluded that he is guilty as fuck. Otherwise, the message would be "We are concerned at certain allegations levelled against RA and are awaiting judicial resolution of these before deciding the Blue Jays Organization's response."

Because Jays can't throw RA off the bus and then invite him back on if the allegations are groundless or unproven. Neither can the league. And all this is Entertainment Biz Public Relations Survival 101 and not complicated at all. So they are pretty damn fucking sure that he did it.

I have heard 3rd hand gossip from an "insider" that - whatever it is - was absolutely fucking vile and puts RA completely over the line from being connected any further w the franchise. But it was left vague and I am still guessing what combination of rape, harassment, violence, stalking, threatening it could / could not be.

Very well stated.

I'm quite certain the Blue Jays didn't just decide on a whim to cut all ties with a club legend.
As mandrill stated, the evidence must be pretty damning to say 'We're done, and we're stripping you of any honours we have bestowed upon you (ie. Level of Excellence, having a HoF banner flying in the stadium).'
Those are privileges, not rights.

Major League Baseball also would've taken a hard look at the evidence to reach a conclusion that it is best to walk away from Mr. Alomar.

From Wilner's column yesterday, Alomar is the 6th individual in the last 25 years to be placed on the 'Ineligible List'.
That's some exclusive (bad) company in which to find one's self.

Seriously, anyone who thinks this is a 'Screw Robbie, there's a few whispers' situation', has blinders on.

While we may never know the details (and really, it's none of our business), this had to be bad, real bad.

Jays can remove him from anything they want. We, lucky enough to have seen him play, will always remember that. Now, if only the radio station would man up and stop playing the music of that kid abuser Michael Jackson.
This is good...gotta appreciate the talent.

So what were the other individuals placed on the list for? You know making them ''bad'' company and all.

I think you're comments completely ignore the times that we are living in right now. Due process has been thrown out the window with the baby's bath water. Remember this is the same organization that moved the all star game out of Georgia based upon woke left lies and distortion.

It is amazing how values, or norms or whatever you want to call them, change over time.

Now that gambling is a big - often government run - business with ADs encouraging it brought to you by OLC, maybe their is room to consider Pete Rose for the HOF !

Tisk, tisk, tisk, Wickerman, she may not give you a second look.

I forget who said it, someone mentioned that Vassy Kapelos had turned into a cow. Give the lady a break, she's pregnant, she got married:cry: last July.

I wish they would release the details. How can the fans and even the media make a decision without ANY information? We live in an open society and condemning an individual away from the public scrutiny is third world fascist bullshit.

What I dont understand if the accusations were so serious then why didnt the police get involved.
Unless the victim didnt want him charged, but then why bring the whole thing up to begin with, especially when it happened 7 years ago

You realize Zauno was let go for simple crude comments telling girls how hot they looked in their skirts, dont you??
The only reason Jays didnt remove Zaun's number is because he was never good enough to get his number retired......LOL

Exactly.

Our company has a "no hug" policy even between two consenting adults. Is that inappropriate behaviour? Is it cause for termination and destruction of one's career?

"Skirt Chasers" Have you seen how women approach pro athletes in night clubs and other social gatherings. They don't even have to try.
And yet so many allegations of sexual misconduct. Kobe Bryant, Doug Gilmour, Robby Alomar, Jake Virtanen, etc. Who's next?

It sounds like the victim has asked that the Jays and MLB take these steps as part of some sort of settlement. Alomar must have agreed to it and for all we know he may be relieved that no further details are being released. I assume Alomar has made some sort of cash settlement as part of a non-disclosure agreement.

It’s hard to imagine how this will stay secret, though. The press are going to be all over this.
