Former NHL coach news:
Mike Babcock is scheduled to be hired by the University of Saskatchewan Men's Hockey team as head coach, next week.
No word on if he'll ask a freshman player to rate/rank his teammates from laziest to hardest worker.

Florida Panthers are leading the league in winning percentage at .800 in a very tough division.
Who woulda’ thunk...
how do you come up with .800 winning percentage. They've played 15 games won 11 and lost 4. That's 0.7333 winning percentage.
You're probably referring to points percentage.

I think he means points percentage, the NHL factors in the loser points.
well no kidding. it just baffles me to call a team a .500 team when they are way below average.

Regulation wins will be the first tiebreaker, in a league that gives away loser points. So is Boston as good as they really are? They have 5 regulation wins but sit on top of the East division. The Leafs have 12 regulation wins and sit on top of their division and lead the NHL.

I don't think that's necessarily fair.
There was a point in time where Cherry understood NHL hockey and how it was played.

A .500 team in the NHL is one whose points earned in the standings/game equals the league average of points earned/team/game. It fluctuates after every game played. By the end of a season it usually is about 1.1 ppg, or maybe a tad higher. It depends how many games go to overtime.

The NHL is getting a new US TV deal. I wonder if the NHL should keep the current division alignment. The ratings in Canada must be doing well. I mean who doesn't like to see Matthews and Marner square off with McDavid and Draisaitl for 8 games. And Leafs-Hab rivalry in the playoffs more often.

Referring exclusively to the circa 80 year old version of Don Cherry. Complete with "you people"

That "you people" was overblown...a few complaints come in and Mr Self-righteous, Ron McLean, burries Cherry to save himself...

Check out Happy Days at the 2:00 minute mark...I know it's the 70s and times have changed...

Lightning are 12 wins 5 losses with a 23 goal differential
Panthers are 12 wins 6 losses with an 8 goal differential

Boston is +15 goal differential. Next closest in their Division is Flyers at +1

Did anyone catch the outdoor games last weekend? Spectacular scenery but unfortunately the sun was playing havoc with the ice surface. What I did notice in that Colorado/Vegas match was just how fast these guys are. MacKinnon was absolutely flying around the ice.

Lake Tahoe, trees, the lake and mountains...I liked it better than the stadiums.

The scenery was better than the game at times.

Just 48 hours later, Boston is a +6 goal differential.
Hockey is a funny game.
