No, I think YOU missed the point. You obviously missed the point.
Can't believe I have to explain this to you.
When Leafs beat Calgary someone was upset and wanted to know why Calgary didn't hit the Leafs because the League Office knows this is the way to beat the Leafs. So the point is take a look at Calgary's hit count.
Point number 2 more hitters is not the be all end all. Skill matters.
Take a look at the Canadian Division thread.
I do a comparison of Toronto and Montreal.
It will make you feel better.
...
Forget about their division, all the serious contenders are outside this division.
Those rankings don’t mean anything...ESPN ranks NHL teams weekly, guess which teams are 2nd/3rd s of today?
Why, that would be the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs, respectively.
They're nestled in right behind the reigning Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning.
NHL Power Rankings: Biggest disappointment for all 31 teams
We update our rankings as February gets rolling. Plus, which players (or other factors) have been a bummer so far?www.espn.com
Ok, I’ll owe up to it...I’ve been jerking off for a lot longer than three years! No, I think YOU missed the point.
All this meaningless analysis is worth shit.
Forget about their division, all the serious contenders are outside this division.
And btw, it's not an either/or argument, skill vs hitting, how juvenile is that thinking?
It's about balance, and I don't mean skill guys and hitters, it's about having guys that can play AND get dirty.
Comparing Nylander and Bennett, what a joke, why don't you compare Nylander and Pastrnak.
You think Boston had more talent than the Leafs both years they got knocked out in the first round?
You think Columbus had more talent than the Leafs last year when they got knocked out in the first round?
I don't give a shit about winning the division, I only give a shit about winning the cup.
You guys have been jerking off for the last three years, at least own up to that fact.
They must mean something, otherwise why would ESPN pay Emily Kaplan to write them? Those rankings don’t mean anything...
They are as accurate as me saying right now that the Habs will win the Stanley cup this year. It makes sense but it's not based on any logic whatsoeverThose rankings don’t mean anything...
Lol!!!!ESPN ranks NHL teams weekly, guess which teams are 2nd/3rd s of today?

It means nothing because you still have to get in the playoffs and win your games...no one in any NHL dressing room celebrates ESPN rankings. They must mean something, otherwise why would ESPN pay Emily Kaplan to write them?
As I mentioned, it's an opinion piece.
It does have some validity, the eye test looking at the standings will tell you teams ranked near the top of the listing have had better starts to the season than those lower down.
You are right...ESPN rankings mean as much as you saying the Scabs will win the Stanley Cup...They are as accurate as me saying right now that the Habs will win the Stanley cup this year. It makes sense but it's not based on any logic whatsoever
Yeah rightYou are right...ESPN rankings mean as much as you saying the Scabs will win the Stanley Cup...
It doesn't matter when you won it last...it matters who wins it next.Yeah right
The only thing they get right is when they say the Leafs last won the stanley cup men had not yet put steps on the moon
It does matter. Next one will be Hab's 26thIt doesn't matter when you won it last...it matters who wins it next.
It does matter. Next one will be Hab's 26th
I take it that you’re referring to my post in which I expressed “surprise” that Calgary didn’t hit as much. In fact I was happy the Leafs won and you’re just twisting the truth to make a point. If anyone is upset, it’s you that always seem to have troubles expressing an opinion without sounding like a jilted and disgruntled wife.“When Leafs beat Calgary someone was upset and wanted to know why Calgary didn't hit ...”
No, I think YOU missed the point.

It is never meant to be a predictor. But it is simply an assessment at that point in time. It fluctuates as the season goes on and shows teams trending up and down.It means nothing because you still have to get in the playoffs and win your games...no one in any NHL dressing room celebrates ESPN rankings.
All you have to do is look at the league standings to see who is playing better than others...
It's no big deal at all, you want to have the discussion on who's been good or bad, go ahead...I use the standings as an indicator of who's been good and bad...the standings actually mean something, ESPN's rankings mean nothing. It is never meant to be a predictor. But it is simply an assessment at that point in time. It fluctuates as the season goes on and shows teams trending up and down.
What's the big deal if people want to discuss "who's been the best teams so far"? That's all it is and all it's meant to be.
Tell that to gman.It is never meant to be a predictor. But it is simply an assessment at that point in time. It fluctuates as the season goes on and shows teams trending up and down.
What's the big deal if people want to discuss "who's been the best teams so far"? That's all it is and all it's meant to be.
Pretty close to nothing...the rankings were made by one person, it's not like it was a poll of coaches and players.I wouldn't say it means nothing. It's a comparison of teams that don't play each other all season that also don't play the same teams.
For teams with championship aspirations, the 56 regular season games are just like an extended training camp and rehearsals for the playoffs. Its also time to find out what pieces they need to add to have a good playoff run.Pretty close to nothing...the rankings were made by one person, it's not like it was a poll of coaches and players.
You think any team was talking about where they are ranked...you think the Montreal dressing room said, "Hey guys, great news, ESPN has us ranked 2nd"...they don't give a sit and well they shouldn't, it means absolutely zero.
