I'm liking Josh Anderson so far. Size, speed, scoring! The team is looking good overall. No superstars but very balanced and bigger than last year.

So what about the habs!! They take tons of penalty yet still win. Just 2 overtime loss so far. Score many goals. New team this year. Imagine that Romanov would landed in TO... But no..

Exciting team to watch... It's been a while

Spoken by the leafs fans who just 5 months ago considered it a major turning point for the franchise core the day after winning game 4 against Columbus.
You're wrong...I'm not a Leafs fan and I never said that...nice try.

I said leafs fans or fanbase. Not you specifically. Either way leafs vs habs fans can go back and forth on jabs fairly easily. becuase neither franchise has had much success the last 25 years other than minor pockets of success.

And both franchises have reasons to have some optimism in 2021.

So I made the mistake of assuming that a person:
- that posts a lot about the Leafs on a Leafs thread
- that is on a Toronto review board
- that hates the habs

Is a leaf fan.
Lock me up

I said minor pockets of success and to be fair to leafs they have had as much of those as the habs the past 25 years... arguably a tad more.

People know me as a habs fan but you can’t find me blowing much smoke about them in more modern timedZ. Got back into the NHL quite a bit more this year as many analysts were quite positive on Montreal as a playoff team and many had them top 3 in Canada which they have lived up to early on. And the Leafs, despite my liking them losing in the playoffs, are certainly a top team in Canada.

The exciting part is that since 1995 these teams have never really matched course which made it difficult for a playoff matchup to occur.

The leafs were good in the sundin era up to the lockout. The habs were not.

The habs had a few good years coming out of the lockout until 2014, but mostly mediocre ... the leafs were not, had no good years in that time. including the terrible Kessel and Phaneuf era which I made fun of shack often for thinking they were any good. Probably my most hockey posts here.

The Leafs then did a masterful job of building up their asset base, but can’t seem to piece it together yet which is part 2 of the build. They are quite good however and that can’t be denied.

And assuming the Habs are a legit top 3 in Canada this year which is still not solids this could be the first time in a while they are both good+ in the same year in a while which is exciting.

After so many years of futility a few big names can make you optimistic.

And they are making mine :)

I still hope the Leafs will finally win the cup because I love Toronto and they deserve it!

Still a 25th cup in Montreal would be amazing! Price and Weber will lead us to it.
