Superstar might be 3rd in hits but I do not really consider them a physical team. You really need a balance on your team to have success. Every year the game is getting softer and softer so you need less on the physical side. I am still pissed that Montreal skipped on Brady Tkachuk in the draft a few years ago.

Claude Julien is a mediocre coach.

He uses an outdated system, he's still trying to win a stanly cup in 2002.
He has absolutely zero ability to perform in game adjustments, and barely makes any useful or well thought out adjustments in between games.
He can't run a power play and he can't run a penalty kill.

Which part of him is a very good coach? That he speaks barely passable french at his totally pointless post game interview where all he says is "Listen Eric, we need to do better out there"
Do you think he's limited with the personnel at his disposal?

Canadiens prospect Cole Caufield’s university hockey career almost certainly came to an end Friday afternoon.

Caufield’s University of Wisconsin Badgers lost 6-3 to the Bemidji State Beavers in the first round of the Bridgeport Regional, which is part of the NCAA Tournament.

Will certain members be concerned with young Cole's size, all 5'7" 165lb of him?

not always sure...
Eric Staal makes his debut with the Canadiens on Monday.
It'll take him a few games to fit in but it's going to be interesting to see how this works.

I can see the Canadiens shocking everyone and go on a deep playoff run. They will be the sleeper pick in the playoffs.

Montreal is right up there with Jets and Oilers. They are far superior to Vancouver and Calgary. That's not even close. Regular season record means nothing in the playoffs. Montreal is a good team 5 on 5 and they don't play 3 on 3 in the playoffs. It's not a stretch to say any of the top 4 teams in the North Division can win 2 rounds.

Even if Montreal finishes 4th in the Division they're like Boston in the East who also could finish 4th. No one would be surprised if Boston wins 2 playoff rounds.

The Leafs beat the Habs tonight but I think the Habs some tricks up their sleeves come playoff time.

Montreal could be difficult with Jake in goal.
I really like the moves that the Habs made, Jake Allen is the best backup similar to Rogie Vachon, Price of course is Ken Dryden, bringing in Anderson who is like Steve Shut, veteran Perry who is like Jacques Lamiere, Staal who is like the Guy Carbonneau. Kokaniemi who reminds me of a young Mats Naslund. Oh and there's Brendan Gallagher who's like Shayne Corson his prime. They got Jeff Petry who is the second coming of Larry Robinson and Shea Weber is like Chris Chelios. This team is prime to win the cup this year.

Cole Caufield wins Hobey Baker and has 3 points (2 g 1 a) in his first AHL game. He has performed at every level he has played at and hopefully that continues in the NHL.

Bah Gawwwwd, That's Cole Caufield's music!
The Canadiens have called up all 5'7" of him to join the big club.

On a side note, his complexion appears fairly pale.

The Flames are 4 pts back and the Canucks are 8 pts back with 5 games in hand. Habs are 3-7 in their last 10. Are the habs going to blow this? Huge game tonight vs the flames. The truck is falling off the cliff.

Last season the Habs had losing streaks of 0-5-3 and 0-7-1 so sadly they have a recent history of prolonged slumps. Earlier this season at least they were getting a point in OT or shoot out losses - but latest streak is regulation losses. If they don't win tonight it is not over - but would be a huge blow to team confidence and their remaining schedule is not an easy one.

Last season, the Habs would not qualify for the playoffs but given the pandemic, they were gifted a play-in round and beat the Pens.

The Habs still have 4 games vs the Leafs. The last 3 games are at the end of the schedule in which the Leafs may have clinched the playoffs, the Leafs may rest some players for those games.
