I think it is high time we call the "progressives" for what they really are: socialists/marxists/communists.
Here's an interesting article on why Trump won Florida. It is because expatriate Cubans didn't want socialism/communism. They seen it in Castro's Cuba and that is why they left Cuba for the U.S.

He's an establishment candidate, Republican light. There will be a few minor changes and his behavior won't be as erratic, he was chosen by the elites to go back to "normal."

I'm waiting to see if he does lose the house whether he signs an austerity bill in 2023 before leaving. He has always been a deficit hawk.

it's a known phenomenon. Eastern European immigrants also tend to believe that they went through communist hell and therefore they should only vote for whoever claims to be opposing of socialism. They are easy targets for conservatives.
And it absolutely does not mean that they know what they are doing.
