That's a very good deal.
If he continues to improve he's going to make a difference.
A little more than what they offered, but also less than what he was asking for only one year. This is good.

Sitting 4th in NHL right now, they have a full (23 man) roster.
Of the clubs with higher cap hits this year, Arizona has 22 signed, St. Louis 21, Vancouver also a full roster, about $1.5Mm over the upper limit. This is where a team's capologist earns his salary.
That's a pretty good deal, I thought he'd get more, a little more anyway.
There are a few individuals here who criticize the Maple Leafs' draft selections.

Interesting story. The only thing I'll say is that the incident occurred when he was 14 years old. 14 year olds do a lot of dumb things. I suspect that this is going to follow him around for a while now and should have an impact (hopefully positive) on his maturation.There are a few individuals here who criticize the Maple Leafs' draft selections.

They might have known but didn't think they'd receive a blacklash for it...if pro sports teams starting going thru the past of their players closer they'd probably be disappointed at what they found.
That would be my guess.
Doing the right thing, better late than never, I suppose.

The Coyotes organization has some work to do with this kid. Hopefully, they educate him to become a better man.
