Finally got some help from the Blues and Leafs retook the last wild card spot with a lucky win. Andersen had a solid game. I'd would have called it a great game if not for the first goal which I thought was weak, but he made enough key saves allowing the team to win in OT.

Marner should be in the Calder race. He's the most consistent point producer among rookies.

I still think the Leafs need 9 more wins to get to 94 pts. to get in the playoffs. 15 games left.
Andersen is the key. If he keeps up the way he's been playing and with a bit of luck, the Leafs will make it.

Leafs (same as Boston and Tampa) have two shots, either 3rd in the division or the second wildcard while NYI's only chance is the second w.c. Flyers and Panthers are fading out and need miracle finish like the rest.

Not a bad game last night, getting themselves back in a wild card spot.

Marner should be considered for the Calder. He plays at both ends of the ice, which is nice to see from a young player.

The back end is still an issue, but we all know that. I'm sure Lou and Shanny will work on fixing this in the off season.

No doubt Marner is a very good player but wish he would stop fcuking around with the puck so much and just shoot the damn thing at the net.

P.S. A couple of the goals against Andersen in recent games are weird. Shot going wide hits his defenseman in the face and lands inside the net. Shot going wide hits his D-man's stick and ends up in the net.

You're about the only one.

Add it to the list.

2)Matthews should take more huge slapshots.

3)There should be ties in baseball.

Marner is prone to the same mistakes that many young guys make. He tried the same move, the toe drag, that lead to a turn over a few times last night. I'm sure he was told to change it up and not be too predictable, but at least it's not in the D zone where he's doing that. That would have lead to a benching I'm sure.

He tries to make too many pretty plays. He should just fire the puck at the net more often. Look at Reilly last night. He closed his eye and shot the puck and it went in.

Comprehension & observation aren't your strong suits, are they?
Young Mr. Rielly (not Reilly) had the puck on his stick for ~11 seconds (an eternity in NHL these days) before taking the shot.
Could you point out where "he closed his eye (he only has one?!?!?) and shot the puck...."?

That's part of what I said. I also said that the coaches probably talked to him and no doubt it will be pointed out to him with the video evidence. Skilled players like him have some leeway with creativity, they have to, but they have to learn that they can't be predictable. So a bagful of tricks is required, to keep the other teams guessing. It's like Kessel, always blew down the wing and shot from the outside..predictable. He's changed that up with the Pens and is a better player because of it.

An Irishman by any other name is still an Irishman. Reilly, Rielly, who cares. He's still an Irishman.
Canadian, West Vancouver.

I think Auston is being a bit too predictable as well. Every team by now knows he likes to work the puck in close. He needs to blaze one from 40-50 feet just to keep them guessing.
