There are plenty of worse smells in downtown Toronto.
Idling buses beat out the odd joint by far.
So by your logic, because buses smell when they are idling, it's ok to create more pollution to subject humans to?

Ergo, since buses idle and create smell it's ok to have any noxious fumes?

I've not noticed any Appreciable increase in outdoor consumption since the 60's. If anything, there has been a decline.
By the way pickled herring reeks
I don't recall ever smelling pickled herring when I've been out and about downtown.

Pot smoking in public is everywhere downtown now it seems. I'm smelling it easily twice an hour every hour, if not more every day.

I get that thanks to our bubblehead Prime Minister, the law is now one big grey area, but it amazes me how many people are just walking down the street smoking dunes like it was perfectly ok these days.

???

It's gotten out of control already. Absolutely out of control. I've been working downtown a lot lately and several times a day I will see or usually smell pot heads.

Are you allowed to walk down the street drinking a beer?

No

So what makes you think smoking a joint is ok?

I hate the smell and it really makes me want to heave.

I had no idea there were so many potheads out there.
While Trudeau said he'll legalize smoking it, in the meantime he still wants to come down heavy on the dispensaries, to make sure that the gov't can still tax and control sales of pot.
Two sides of the same issue.

As I said, I could care less if it or any other drug was legal.

I just don't want to be subjected to the second hand smoke and the stench of dope (just like I don't want to be subjected to tobacco smoke) and I don't think that that is an unreasonable request.

In a place far, far away
Cellphone zombies are way worse - people walk around typing away, get hit by cars then the media blames drivers.

Got to love it when Darwin pays them their due. Smoke more pot and stare more at the cellphone- I'm surprised this character has not been introduced on The walking Dead yet.

so you'd support a total ban on fossil fuel burning vehicles in the city? Much smellier and infinitely more harmful.

It's always like this in Vancouver, I'm here now and you will see it and smell it all the time. People even do it right in front of cops who are watching protests, or beach celebrations. I personally don't like the smell and smoke of anything burning. It just seems like people really don't give a shit anymore and think they won't get hassled for it. Does pot work in a vaporizer? That would probably be better to eliminate the potent smell from public areas.
Not all vaporizers but if you buy the correct one you can vape pot with virtually no smell or smoke .

They have also demonstrated more and more people are smoking pot while driving. If you run or ride on the roads you can tell when a car is smoking. Some areas like Keswick are brutal for this.

Some people seem to feel this is their cause. I do not care what people do in their home, and it is no doubt a blessing for people with chronic pain, but people who need to get high daily or while waiting for a bus have a serious problem IMHO. For a lot of people now, it has become the equivalent of the morning cup of coffee.

As the standard of living declines for young people today (and there is zero doubt it is declining), odds of any of them blaming this are slim and none.

Hash smells much better, weed smells like burned leafs. Hash smells more like resin or incense.

I love pot smokers. One of the best forms of job security we have ever had. I'll put my critical thinking skills up against someone who is reefer baked any day of the week. I don't want to smell it but other then that, do whatever you want. Pot creativity will only get you so far if you can't get your shit together long enough to act on it.

And what exactly is the problem sir?

How is this different than cigarette smoke? Which is far more foul and chemical - not debatable

And what's the problem with treating weed like coffee?

Coffee pumps u up for a hour or so
Weed calms you down for an hour or so

Weed doesn't make u a worse driver
It doesn't make you stupid
It doesn't make you violent
These are all just claims clearly from people who have never smoked before, or who smoked 1 spliff and since their tolerance is at zero the paranoia made them go haywire. Same way kids can get drunk off 2 beers lol.

Don't like the smell too bad. In 10 years, ppl will be smoking joints everywhere

Sadly, science does not support you. Neither does the law.
The fact you think it is okay to smoke and drive speaks volumes. You are right up there with the people who think a few drinks make you a better driver.

As always, you do not disappoint because any time there is a criticism of weed, people say "X" is worse. It is a nonsense argument.

Anyway, keep smoking. As others have said, the more others handicap themselves and their ability to compete, the more $$$ for us.

My right to a smoke free environment trumps your need to get high.

It is my ardent hope that smoking weed in public gets you a thousand dollar fine. Driving a car while high? Same fine as driving drunk. You are simply not in control of yourself when you are high.

The ban on smoking should apply regardless of what it is. Get a vaporizer so you won't bother other people. It's not all about you and the rest of us can and will enact bans on offensive behavior.

Whether you admit it or not weed stinks, and stinks way worse than tobacco does. They are both foul but you can smell weed from a lot further away.

Find a way to consume the drug unobtrusively.

Sure, just like C-36 made prostitution illegal.
