The Real McCoy Burgers have a great homemade burger. A small place with no seating it is basically a take out place. Go for the Mojo burger, basically a bacon and cheese burger. It is fantastic!

Downtown Toronto
For a gourmet restaurant option, try the Station Burger at Richmond Station, downtown. It's small but they serve it on a brioche bun with a good seat. The patty itself is stuffed with braised meat and served with pickled onion and a beet relish.

I always send or take out of town business partners there for a "business casual" bite.

Best I've had is the "Lumberjack" burger at Shoeless Joe's. I go to the one at Dufferin and Orfus. Not sure if the quality would be as good at other locations. It's in the same plaza as Yorkdale Spa so sometimes I work up an appetite there.

I find it rather amusing how many burger chains come & go
Hero, 5 Guys, Union, South St, Priest
Its like every couple of years there is a new "it" place that quickly fades away
It's almost like the Harvey's syndrome (new place starts off strong, then food quality gets worse each year as profits and clients dwindle)

I still like Wendy's quite seriously
Used to like Lick's as well
The Works is only place I consider to be premium in chain format

If I had to pick a one off place that makes great burgers, Troy's in Milton or Sonny's in Brampton both are good (certainly better than Apache who gets alot of buzz)

Holy chuck is probably the worst burger...ever! Everything feels deep fried....maybe because it is!!

5 guys is still tops for me in the GTA. Was is Los Angeles last week, In and Out burgers were really tasty.

Bymark has a great burger! I recall it being quite comparable to Minetta Tavern & The Standard Grill for anyone who has been to NYC. I can also vouch for some of the other ones mentioned here..Zets, McCoys are great choices too!!

Bymark, are you referring to Chef Michael McEwen's joint? Yes he makes outstanding burgers. But I prefer the Steak Queen Homeburger at 1/3 of the price.

Bymark's burger had a price in excess of $30 last time I checked and was not ground beef but a pulverised grilled strip loin steak on an artisan bun topped with a grilled mushroom with mayonnaise mixed with truffle. This is more a glorified philly cheese steak sandwich than a burger.

Is there a Steak Queen still around? I have not seen one since they closed their location at Vic Park and Lawrence in Scarborugh

Didn't know they had one in Scarborough, it's always been an Rexdale entity to me (Rexdale - Martin Grove). The Homeburger is great and, unlike others palces, you get your choice of HP, Heinz 57 or BBQ sauce.

For a bried period it became the focal point of Rasta culture.

Cool. Thanks. I guess I should make a drive out there. I used to get the homeburger in Scarborough. They also used to have fried onions as well as various sauces.
