It looks like the Jays are going to the playoffs after 20 years hiatus. This is not only good news to the city of Toronto but it could also be good for...the young Maple Leafs this upcoming season. Everyone will be paying much more attention to the boys of summer in October. So, it will be less pressure for Leafs during training camp and preseason.

I just read that the Jays are tied with the Cards as 5-1 favourites to win the World Series.

Dammit. I was in Vegas before the Tulo trade, and odds then were 16-1 or so. I thought about putting down a bet, but I was there right after a stupid loss to Seattle and was so pissed off at the way they played that I figured it would be money wasted.
By eyeball, I think he's gotten better over the last couple of weeks. Much better at scooping balls out of the dirt etc. Given his history, I suspect he's working his butt off with the coaching staff to improve at first.

How could a franchise with a tradition of winning get so bad. It's simple, they traded away Evan Gattis, and his monster power, to the Houston Astros. If we build a cushion on the Yankees, we can partially thank Gattis. Like Arnold in Commando, he's been eating Yankee pitching for breakfast.

Gattis is a one dimensional slugger with excellent power, a low average, no defensive skills and no ability in situational hitting. If that's all the Braves had going for them, they truly were fucked both before and after the trade.
