Failing that maybe we give Sanchez another shot at the rotation.
Not a hope in hell (sorry for swearing).

With quite a number of off days, with which to minimize Hutch's innings, and probably just 4 starters needed for, dare I say it, PLAYOFFS, we need to have a bullpen that is dominant. Sanchez stays the 8th inning guy.

Hutch is the real Jeckyl & Hyde. Generally much better at home but very poor on the road so it's his road starts they need to be thinking about.

If the rotation isn't tinkered with Hutch will start game 3 against the Yankees.

Joba Chamberlain is proof enough that you don't flip flop a pitcher. Unless the Jays want to start Sanchez in the playoffs, there's no reason to put him in the rotation. Hutch's problems are both mental and mechanical, I hope he can figure it out until the end of the season but I'm not holding my breath.

Ever the team leader.

Considering the torments Joey Boom Bats put him through, Cabbie must have enjoyed this.

If the Jays sweep the Yankees this weekend and take 10 out of 13 games against the Yanks. Then I would be convinced that they are going to the World series
I'm gonna go ahead and say 9 out of 13.
10 might be asking a bit much since Yankees get 1 extra home-game.

Yankees prepare your anuses, the best offensive team in baseball is coming to town

SHOWTIME! Shootout in the Big Apple!

I won't be attending the game but wish Dickey, the Jays all the best and hope no one gets injured.

I'd be thrilled with 8-5. Yankees are a good team. Jays'd still have 40 games against other teams with which to make up the remaining 1.5 games.

Lowe is more than capable to be the 8th inning guy. I wish Loup would regain his form from last year to be the situational shutdown lefty. Sanchez has far better stuff than Hutch he can give them a spot start or eat up middle relief innings. His curveball is already one of the best in baseball.

Exactly. I'm sure the Yankees think they should win the majority of the remaining games with hte Jays, and they are a good team. Even 7-6 against the division leaders is ok, although Jays are hot and I think they could go 8-5 or somewhere around there. They need to make up one game per week on Yankees to win division with a bit of breathing room. It's not do or die this weekend. Just keep winning each series and you are playing great baseball.

Now 3.5 games behind.....

I thought the Jays would tee off on Eovaldi and I feared the worst when they barely dented him and he handed off to the Yankees' redoubtable pen. But our pitching held up and we won it in extras.

If the team was half as nervous as I was about this series, hopefully they've got the butterflies out of their system and we can go with Price tomorrow and then our most successful pitcher on Sunday.

Good win tonight , Defense and pitching was solid all around.
Gibbons deserves a mention , forcing the Skanks to use up their best relievers early.
Dickey keeps on rolling with another good start, very few hard hit balls off him tonight.

Price goes tomorrow !

good to see them win a game like that. It is time to put Revere on lead off and put Tulowitzki fifth.....would have made a difference in the first....better protection for EE and pushes weaker bats further down

So I'm at the sports bar watching the game. There is this asshole Yankee fan in full gear. Shirt, hat, even earphones. And everytime the Jays made an out her would scream "Homerun......to the shortshop!" or such. Every fucking time.

And was jawing non stop.

Then Joey Bats stepped to the plate in the 10th........

Oh man you should have seen the customers and staff absolutely rip him a new one. We had all been polite up to that point.

But the sour look on that sorry good for nothings face is something I will treasure for awhile......

Glad the Jays won, it was a nail biter. I was scared at anytime Cecil would allow a HR, but he surprised me.

Game notes - Just me, or did the home plate Ump have it in for Donaldson? That inside pitch (ball 4) was not even close. Can't recall the other two Jays who were given similar bad calls, but think it was Bautista and Martin. Either way, it was annoying.
EE seems much too anxious and swinging as some bad ones... he seemed to be the only bat chasing phantoms.

One last thing, Why did Cecil pick up the win, if Dickey started, went seven strong? Was it because the Jays were not leading, that the game took extra innings, or another reason?
It's the pitcher of record at the time the winning team went ahead to stay who is credited with the win. Unless it's a starter. The starter has to go at least 5 innings to get credited with a win.
