AA's job is on the line. He is going for it all now. Buerhle set to become FA, Dickey perhaps could get let go, EE, Bautista FA after next year.
More trades please. :p

Well, in that sense isn't everyone who seeks to do well in her/his job and advance her/his employer's interests not doing it to protect her/his job?

Perry
Why didn't he make these moves last season or at the start of the season or before the season started. Looks like AA was under pressure to get results.

With respect, stick to photography!

He tried to get Tulo during the winter but the Rox were not willing to trade until now. And Price was not available either; he happened to be pitching for a team that was looking to get into the post season... how in hell could he have made these deals either before or early in the season?

And it's part of the job description of a GM to be under pressure to get results!

You are spewing nonsense! :eyebrows:

Because I dont think we have enough minor leaguers to entice Price with. Unless you wanna give up a very promising current Jay ( like Travis) in a package deal.

I cant see Detroit taking Travis back after they just released him for nothing though. The optics look kinda retarded
Released him for nothing?
Huh?!

Devon Travis was traded for Anthony Gose, who has been
playing a stellar outfield for the Detroit Tigers this season.

His stats? http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/gosean01.shtml

If Norris and those other 2 dont pan out we will have essentially given up nothing

I wonder which pitcher will be demoted to make roster space for Price.

Cecil?? Loup??
Incredibly doubtful on both counts.

What Charlesc09 said and the sportsnet radio said, AA under pressure by the owners to get the jays into the playoffs, someone had to give AA a little push. Rogers wants more profits (playoff profits) which is a win-win for Rogers and it's fans.

The Jays looked like the best team in baseball tonite. excellent pitching. meaningful homers. I think Tulo had a natural letdown tonite at the plate..he will be fine...he had one tough play to make in field and he did it masterfully

You're awesome!

Heard the news this afternoon on the radio, and did the same. Thought I was hearing things, as I expected AA to avoid a rental.
Let the news only get better by this not being a rental, and have AA sign him in the winter.
Haven't seen Kathleen this excited since my last visit ;)

Don't think Gibby has been behind these trades. Probably all AA and Beeston.

He's still able to lose games through his mis-handling of the bullpen.

I hope he settles on a Yost-ian, auto-pilot strategy of Hawkins in the 7th, Sanchez in the 8th and Osuna in the 9th like he did last night. The less thinking that Gibbons does, the better for everybody.

Cueto vs Hutchinson tonight. I hope that the "Good Hutch" comes out of hiding and can handle the match-up. Otherwise it's going to be a long night.

Tulo may struggle in the short term while he gets to know American League pitching, tonight will not be one of those nights.

Price, Estrada and Buehrle will all be free agents at the end of the season. Buehrle may retire. Pete Walker deserves credit for helping Marco gain confidence in his change up. He may resign, he played college ball with Tulo. Price is the wildcard, he'll demand a mammoth contract, but if that falls through Semardzija could sign with us. At the moment us, the Yankees and the Cubs are the front runners for his signature.
