Tulo may struggle in the short term while he gets to know American League pitching, tonight will not be one of those nights.

Price, Estrada and Buehrle will all be free agents at the end of the season. Buehrle may retire. Pete Walker deserves credit for helping Marco gain confidence in his change up. He may resign, he played college ball with Tulo. Price is the wildcard, he'll demand a mammoth contract, but if that falls through Semardzija could sign with us. At the moment us, the Yankees and the Cubs are the front runners for his signature.
In terms of the overall credibility and health of this franchise, signing Price or another All Star calibre starter was a "must do". The players were muttering about lack of support from front office - well, JB anyway although he is pretty outspoken at the best of times. And the rest of the league has to take us seriously, after decades of mediocrity.

But I hope to hell we have a pitching staff in 2016 and 2017!

Here
for the first time, I couldn't agree more with perry.
Holy shit!

I upgraded to Windows 10 overnight and and when I booted up this morning I discovered that the new OS has a mind of its own that changed black into white!

What will it think next? That the BJ's are contenders?

40 million of the books should enable to us to land a huge pitcher. I don't think the AA and company mind spending 27 million a year on a ace. The problem with these guys is the length of the contracts. Like a 4 year 120 million contract would be ideal. Anything longer than 4 years with a pitcher is risky. Just look at Justin Verlander and CC Sabathia. The problem is there is always some organization/GM willing to give out a dumb contract, which kills other teams chances of landing the big free agent.

The way the Jays are structured right now, they aren't going to have to fill many holes other than pitching. The money is there and the team is such that pitchers looking for a ring should be interested. Get one big name starter to sign and you put them with Stroman Sanchez Hutchinson and Dickey. Maybe you look to upgrade the backend but barring injuries they should be at worst, competitive.

Agreed oagre Joey Boom Bats is outspoken and it sometimes leads to friction with the local press. But I'm willing to give him a pass. No other player has done more to make the Jays a national franchise again. His flamboyance was an asset during the Jays Winter Caravans to Western Canada. Charming the pants off the people of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta in mid January, sure he was physically uncomfortable but he did for the good of the franchise. And I liked the way he messed with Tulo's head in his debut, the new ss had a monster game.

What did the Jays give up to get Revere? All I can find is that he is on his way here. Phillies can't be that benevolent , can they ?

Wow! I take back everything I have said about AA!

Looks like Rogers opened up the purse strings and now he is like a kid with money and huge cojones in a candy store... not that there's anything wrong with that! :D

The farm is pretty bare, so I think he is also going to have a busy and very expensive off season, especially if they win big this October... but I suspect he and his team know what he is doing better than I do! :eyebrows:

I gather that last year he was not confident that he had the basic pieces in place, but this year he has the best offence in baseball so he has something to work with.

In any event, the die is cast!

Speeeed!!

Just an insane week. Ben Revere, Mark Lowe,Troy Tulowitzki, David Price and LaTroy Hawkins.

Seriously, the Jays didn't put on a Band-Aid with a single rental, the fixed every hole and weakness they had. Pitching - both starting and relief, outfield, and SS.
Incredible!

So hope this lineup can make the post season.
Anything to make you and Jennifer happy ha
And I can't get ride of my big grin!! :p
Hang on it's going to be a RIDE !!

To me, all in would mean if you don't win it all then you are doomed to suck after that.

The Jays are still a very strong and young organization and look how many minor league pitchers they gave away. Not depleted.

So not only does he know how to make a deal, he did a fantastic job of developing a scouting, drafting and development system with which he stockpiled all these arms (mostly lefties) that other teams covet and were willing to make deals. The old adage that "you can never have enough pitching" was used by AA to do what he did this week.

Play ball.
