...Hamels is looking at the Jays newly offense and says...hmm..I go there for a potential ring! I bet you that AA is working on getting Chapman and Leake. Chapman will make ppl forget about Castro potential in the future. Since 2012, Joey Reyes's trade had cost AA a lot of young prospects. Including this morning trade to COL if you think about it. So,AA is better be right this time around. A lot of ppl may not agree with me but AA is trading horses for his next contract! One thing I know what AA has been trying to do to his club. He is trying to lighten up on Spanish speaking players in the club house! Notice the pattern of trades from AA since last winter? (neither I nor AA is a racist, btw). Joey Votto will be the icing on the trading cake for AA if he can pull it out before this Friday,LOL

Troy is better defensively and has a better BA and more power (mind some of his HR's are in Colorado). Reyes is faster. Mano a mano, I would pick Troy.

Hopefully, the trade of Joey Reyes would wake up another player in the Jays lineup. EE needs to get it going before the Yankees series down the pipe soon. Right now, the hated A-Rod is playing better at the DH position as compared to EE.

I am sure everyone is waiting for my opinion on this trade (just kidding). I like it......but success may depend on Tulo's attitude....because I think it is almost a pipe dream that the jays can make the playoffs this year. If the Yankees were to merely play .500 the rest of the way, the Jays would need to go 39-23 to beat them..that is above .600 - with this pitching staff?! lets say they play to the max...that might mean 90 wins..unlikely to win division.....the twins would need to be 38-24 to beat them.....and that is to play a one game road playoff.

Any one watching the Yankees last nite crushing Texas will know the Yankees are for real and we are not going to catch them. If they add another front line pitcher...forget it. It is too bad the trade deadline isn't after the 10 game homestand..because unless they win all 3 series at least 7-3, 2 against playoff teams......we should be sellers for prospects

Hopefully this lessens all the stupid celebration handshakes that Reyes seems to be the catalyst for.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but in this deal AA rights the wrong of his mentor JP Richardi . Tulo becomes a Jay 10 years after he should have been selected by them as the 6th pick of the 2005 draft. Richardi defied expectations and apparently his scouts and took the great Ricky Romero instead.

I don't know if AA has any coherent plan for making this team better.
He seems to spend a lot of time running around like a madman doing crazy things.
It's like he has attention deficit disorder so he can't form coherent plans and work on them.

I think he became obsessed like Captain Ahab with getting rid of the problematic Reyes contract he picked up in another bad deal and this was his way of getting rid of it.
Had to give up Hoffman and Castro in order to jettison the Reyes deal.

I really just started crying lol. (Which is really messed up lol...)

I really think this was the right trade but a hard trade.

Im so emotionally-attached to this team. A lot of people criticize the team (and especially Reyes), but some of us really love the guys who play for us.

I think is a great move- I really hope Reyes gets traded to the Mets. I want him to be happy bc he is such a great person...

I don't think I can handle watching the team till after all the trades are done...

You are wrong hear. We could never get a guy like Tully to sign here. It is a better contract, bit younger player and 6 years of control. Gives us a better power bat and D at the position. His injuries were more of the freakish kind as opposed to continuing issues.

He had apparently been off and on this one since the winter. Adding Hoffman, a prospect just going to AA? That's all it took. Ya I make this trade.

Sometimes is isn't about what you want first. But what's available to you with what you can offer. This wasn't for today. It was for the long term.

You need stop loving Zaun's opinion... :p

I love the handshakes ("mortadella collabello") look at Jose and Chris...

Handshakes aren't going to stop and I don't want them to despite grumpy-zaun's Sunday roast opinion.

I know everyone is excited about Tully coming here, lets not forget about Hawkins, kind of a Darrin Oliver type. He may help that bullpen a bunch.

I feel more confident Sanchez will pan out than I do Stroman will
Sanchez has better stuff and will be an ace. Stroman is a #2 or #3 in the rotation. Nothing wrong with that though.

Sure Reyes was a good guy in the clubhouse but on the field he was not worth the $20M he was earning. His defensive range has shrunk, he makes key errors, his head is sometimes not in the game and he seems to have lost any semblance of a power stroke he once had. Injuries have taken their toll I guess. We were never going to win with him.
The worst part of this deal for me is losing Hoffman. I would have rather they traded Norris. Hoffman hits almost 100 mph on his fastball and he's just a year removed from TJ surgery.

Actually I was of this opinion long before Zain said his piece.

They are trying to recreate Don Cherry for baseball in him. Bad choice. There is only one Cherry.

But in this he is correct. Concentrate on winning the game, not the at bat.

Yep :)

Just saw it last week. I'll search for it and post it later.

The handshakes make me happy.

Despite Zaun (who I usually like but can't see him as capable of managing a team), I don't expect players to ignore former teammates. If we play Reyes, I want and expect former teammates to share a laugh.
The handshakes make me laugh (hence my mortadella collabello comment).

Btw re the trade. This reliever we picked up (Hawkins), seems to be a great guy. He's already in Toronto. He seems happy to be here. The oldest active mlb player. I think he can help out our young pitchers...
