Blue Jays supposedly chasing Jeff Samardzija.

Samardzija earns $8.9 million US this season and is eligible for free agency after the season.

This season right-handed Samardzija is 7-5 with a 3.91 ERA in 20 starts, walking 26 and striking out 108 in 140 1/3 innings:

Did you read the article? The first word in the headline is 'Are'! Don't see this as anything more than another dumb ass media reporter having to fill space on a slow day!

I think we have to find out if all our young pitchers are going to be good, personally I think they will all not work out, someone will falter just like Romano did . Stroman has had a great first year, can he keep it up I dont know . I would trade a young pitcher who I maybe think might not make it for a proven pitcher who has some upswing. Remember AA will always draft pitchers in the draft . I dont know this is just a thought, we are relying on all the young pitchers working out

I tend to agree with you so long as it is a proven pitcher with at least 2 years left on a contract. I would be reluctant to include Sanchez Stroman Osuna or Hoffman in the deal. The Jays would have Castro Boyd Norris available and if someone wanted Hutchinson, I would look at what they were offering.

With all of these rumours and no resultant trades, one has to ask simply, "Are the Jays going to make a trade at all before Friday?"

If they're gonna make a trade just so they can say they made one, and its a risky or shitty trade, then I rather they not and just build towards the future

Is it within the realm of possibilities that Greg Zaun could be a future Jays' manager? Ex-catchers make good managers?

I suspect Zaun has made some enemies within the Jays. But how about a guy like Rod Barajas...or the oldest Molina brother....get a guy who knows the game and hates to lose and doesn't accept the blunders jays make too often (read Buck Showalter...and ya I know we are ahead of the Orioles now,...but look at last year).

Apparently the price for Cueto included Strolman. That's why the deal didn't get done.

People have to remember it isn't necessarily about what we have to trade. It's about what the seller needs as well. And what knowledge they have of certain farm systems to guess what will fit for them.

From what I hear every conversation involving the Jays and pitching it's always Stroman or Sanchez.

How would the fans react then? Look how bad people are now about the Mets trade.

I dont wanna trade Sanchez or Stro.

I'd rather keep both of them and build a contender a couple of yrs ahead

The only problem is once Stro and Sanchez mature, our hitters (EE and Bautista) might be over the hill.

So now we're fucked, because our offence is maturing but our pitching is just starting to bloom

Tulowitzki to the Jays for Reyes and two prospects (don't know who).

Evidently there should be another deal for pitching coming soon.

AA surprises everyone again.

I don't think this signals that the Jays are doing to do another trade for pitching.

This was more of a "baseball trade" rather than a deadline type deal, as Tulo will provide benefits for the next handful of years. It does not indicate that the jays will go more on this year.

WHHHAAATTTT!!! AA may not be able to put together a pitching staff, but he's very good/imaginative at putting together an offense.

Hang on.... Tulo (if/when healthy) and Donaldson on the left side of the infield? Wow. The Jays now have 3 legitimate (when healthy) MVP candidates.
