I just found out it is a leg injury. Whew !
Yeah still lose him for year but at least it is not an arm.
A leg injury could affect his pitching motion. Dizzy Dean (a 30 game winner prior to McLean) hurt his toe and changed his pitching motion, never the same again.

Could still have a strong starting line-up with Hutchison, Buerhle, Dicky, Sanchez (fingers crossed there) and ANO. Obviously would have been better to have Stroman but the Baseball Gods decided otherwise.

Not sure about the bullpen though. Hopefully Delabar is back to his best but otherwise could be the main weakness, that hasn't been corrected by AA.

With Martin behind the plate a definite upgrade on Navarro in terms of defence and pitch framing (Navarro regarded as one of the worst in the league at framing).

Batting line-up stronger than last year (despite loss of Lind) and better defence all round.

Main worry is the bullpen.

Can't wait until the season starts! I have hope even with Marcus gone. Will be exciting to watch the new jays and the young players with of course some suds and grilled bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers.

No doubt, but would prefer it was his right arm ?

Estrada not looking too good. 4 home runs (3 consecutive) by TB in one innings and the innings hasn't finished yet!

Gameday had it wrong - only 1 HR for Estrada. Still gave up 7 runs though.

Stroman and Sanchez both liked one of my Instagram photos today.

I feel so fancy :)

After estrada's 4hr inning today... I definitely am not comfortable with him starting.

I hope hope hope Sanchez and Norris live up to expectations.

If they do, I am not concerned with our rotation. We aren't getting an Ace now.... Let's all think positively.

And Delabar can return to form and Cecil gets healthy and the bullpen can be solid without Sanchez and none of Bautista, Martin, EE or Donaldson get hurt and the bottom half of the batting order is not a black hole and the rest of the East underperforms and and and...

We need to reproduce the season of the Miracle Mets.

Re. Stroman

I remember back in 2011 spring training the St. Louis Cardinals lost Adam Wainwright for the entire season because he needed Tommy John surgery.
And I thought to myself, damn they looked to be well positioned to have a shot to win the world series this year and now that's all down the drain with this injury.
Well it turned out they won the world series in 2011 without a pitch from Wainwright for the entire season.

So, losing Stroman seems like a big loss; but, you just have to let the players show what they can do. You never know.
Sanchez and Norris might be able to get the job done as starters.

Yes, but they had other strong arms and a strong bullpen - a hall of famer at first base...and a bona fide big league manager in Tony Larussa. They also upgraded at centerfield - had a guy named Rasmus replaced him (or am I a year out on that one)

Look at the number of pitchers in spring training. Our bullpen won't be a problem.

Sanchez should be a starter. I was against him starting until today but we need him now.

Cecil or delabar will close.

Our bullpen is not weak and investing in bullpen arms often turns out bad (ie. Nathan- Detroit last year).

Look at Castro, Jenkins, Estrada, Osuna.im not worried.

I just hope Sanchez and Norris can step up, (and even better: Santana)

Navarro would never get us someone who could replace STROMAN or a top bullpen guy. He is more valuable with us right now. (And he won't get to be a starting catcher elsewhere until An injury goes down elsewhere).
So far, so good with Sanchez. Norris also looking good. So maybe those 2 will work out.

Delabar has also started well. Castro did very well last night as did Osuna.

Lovely to see all this young home grown pitching talent coming through.

Early signs are that Devon Travis is doing well in the 2B spot, so maybe that isn't going to be such a worry either.

Bench remains weak though.

Watched parts of the game last night. Travis looked at home at the plate. Never saw anything defensively, Pitching was solid, Jays used 3, with Hutchinson going the first four and other than the HR he gave up to Teixeira he was fine. Jays base running needs work. Runner thrown out at the plate, runners failed to advance on a fly to center, same crap as in past years. Jays looked better than the Yanks but it is still early and all teams are experimenting.
