The whole playoff structure and format is ridiculous in my opinion.7th in terms of playoff seedings. They have the 5th best record in the east.

How would you do it?The whole playoff structure and format is ridiculous in my opinion.
Third through Sixth ... second and third place teams in each division
Strange as it may sound, if I understand the format correctly, it does not matter.Just curious: If the 3rd place team in one division has more points than the 2nd place team in the other division, which team would have the higher seed, I think it would be 4th.
Like I said I think this format is a joke.Strange as it may sound, if I understand the format correctly, it does not matter.
Within each division regardless of overall conference points/standing second will play third.
Second round
Pittsburgh series winner will play winner of Metro division second vs third
Torontowill play the Tampa vs Montreal winner.
and as I said , how would you do it?Like I said I think this format is a joke.
First have a balanced schedule, then take the top 16 teams in the league and go 1st vs 16th, 2nd vs 15th, etc. This way the top 16 teams make the playoffs, the current form could see a team in one conference miss the playoffs despite having more points than a team in the opposite conference who makes the playoffs. You're never going to please everyone trying to come up with a playoff system. This is the way I would do it I'm sure some of you have your own ideas. Btw, I also don't like the schedule format, I'd prefer a balanced schedule so every team has a fair shot at making the playoffs. Rivalries are way overrated these days. Let's hear some other opinions.and as I said , how would you do it?
So you are basically calling for one big 30 team division.First have a balanced schedule, then take the top 16 teams in the league and go 1st vs 16th, 2nd vs 15th, etc. This way the top 16 teams make the playoffs, the current form could see a team in one conference miss the playoffs despite having more points than a team in the opposite conference who makes the playoffs. Why does the NHL have to be like all the other team sports? Why not try something new and different? So you are basically calling for one big 30 team division.
Boring. There is not one league that does that.
It's not new and it's not different. Why does the NHL have to be like all the other team sports? Why not try something new and different?
You mean like playing on ice while wearing skate ?Why does the NHL have to be like all the other team sports? Why not try something new and different?
your on!Leafs catch a couple of breaks, no Taveras tonight and I've read Price won't play on Saturday. I'll bet the leafs both games.
I do think the next two games for all teams will be unpredictable .. Kind of like exhibition games .. Heck the Sabres beat the Bruins last nightLeafs catch a couple of breaks, no Taveras tonight and I've read Price won't play on Saturday. I'll bet the leafs both games.
