Komarov left the Leafs this year to play in KHL, signing a contract already. He tweeted that he thanks the team and the fan for a fun year, but for personal reason he feels he has to stay in Russia next season. He also express his willingness to come back when the conditions are right for him.I hear Komarov may be headed back to the KHL.
I hope it is just a negotiation ploy to get as much money as he can. I know he is not a top six forward, but I like his style of play.
Out of that group I think Kadri, McLaren, Fransen and Bernier should be priorities. The rest, only if the price is attractive. I do expect Gunnarsson to be better next year. Don't think he was at 100 percent. Other thoughts? Here are the unsigned as of today(June 26) according to CapGeek.
Kadri(RFA)
Komarov(RFA)
Colborne(RFA)
McLaren(RFA)

Mahovlich has brought down DP's trade value with all of his negative rants on the guy. What do you expect to get for Phaneuf ? / What do you consider fair ?
I was comparing Rask to Reimer and their overall rebound control in both regular and post season play. Rask in my opinion is far superior to Reimer when it comes to rebounds. Here is Chicago's first goal scored by Toews.

No fluky rebounds or anything. Toews simply crosses the blueline and fires the puck through the five hole from the faceoff spot. Bit of a soft goal in my opinion.
Bickell's tying goal with just over a minute remaining.

I did not see any kind of unusual bounce. Puck came from behind the net, right through Chara, in front to a waiting Bickell for the easy tap in.
A bag of pucks and a case of bra dour beer (if they still make it.....yuk)What do you expect to get for Phaneuf ? / What do you consider fair ?
That's the first thing I noticed when I looked at the differences between Rask and Reimer. Rask rarely lets out a bad rebound. In fact in the last two games of the playoffs, it took fluky bounces to get a couple by him. Reimer is good, but not in the same league as other top goalies.
As you can see, you said it took fluky bounces to get pucks past him.I was comparing Rask to Reimer and their overall rebound control in both regular and post season play. Rask in my opinion is far superior to Reimer when it comes to rebounds.
You simply pointed out two goals against Rask. If you look at the first, it was a 2 on 1 and Toews had both an option to pass and shoot. I suspect Rask was thinking he would pass which is why he didn't commit 100% to Toews and thus a little slow in closing the five hole. Quick release and a perfect shot = goal.
Seriously, Rask or any other goalie had no chance Bickell's tying goal.
This is one one of the fluky bounces I was talking about. Rask had no chance on the deflection.

Don't get me wrong, I like Reimer but if I had a choice, I'd take Rask in a heartbeat.
He sure was solid against the Flyers. Reimer played well against the Habs. So I still think they are 1a and 1b.With only one game under the Leaf's jersey, Bernier has me convinced: we found an amazing goalie and the best thing is he has so much upside to him, I'm ecstatic at the thought of seeing more of him in the Buds' goal.
I like the confident in having Bernier calmly doing his stuffs. I kind of enjoyed what Rheimer does best: win some games, doing well under skepticism last year, but managed very well in giving my heart the butterflies when the opposition are coming in, in its way it is exciting. Both are good goalies, no doubt, just Bernier gives you hope of thing MUCH better down the stretch. No proof yet, but just a gut feeling of : ahhhh! finally...He sure was solid against the Flyers. Reimer never seems to give you that "I'm confident this game is over and we've won feeling". I felt much more confident with Bernier last night.
The Leafs need good goalies because they often get outshot (and often badly) and lose faceoffs in their own zone. Outshot again last night. Enough negatives, back to the glowing comments. Winning conquers all.I like the confident in having Bernier calmly doing his stuffs. Both teams won the trade .. Kings got assets for an asset they didn't need and Leafs needed ..Leafs won this trade as well !
Tiger Williams and Jerry Butler to the Canucks for Rick Vaive and Bill Derlago. Why not talk about clear cut trades Leafs own ... Leafs have acquired D Cody Fransen and C Matthew Lombardi from NASH for D Brett Lebda and F Robert Slaney.
Francois Beauchemin shipped back to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Joffrey Lupul, defenceman Jake Gardiner .
Why don't you change your name to shtick . Cause these type of posts that are your shtick . I am surprised you didn't talk about the Frank Mahovlich trade isn't that how old you are or maybe we should go back to the 50's ?Tiger Williams and Jerry Butler to the Canucks for Rick Vaive and Bill Derlago.
Leafs won that one easily.
The Gilmour trade has to be the Leafs biggest win given that it lead to a few year success period over .500 (one of only two periods over the past 30 years)
And of course Russ Courtnall for John Kordic.
