Recent polls show her winning by a landslide if she runs...she'll run. She's a lame duck in Parliament but might have more influence in Toronto if she can get Council on board. Big time socialist and will likely run the spending up...thoughts?

Polls are constantly wrong these days. Wait until she starts to speak regularily, and has to debate.

Toronto just loves to shoot themselves in the foot in regards to mayors. This is a vote for the memory of Jack Layton and not for her. She has accomplished nothing in her life other than to get elected. She was an uninspired city councillor and a mediocre MP.
Her comments on garbage privatisation pretty much sums it up that she puts the socialist agenda ahead of good government.

I don't live in the GTA but if she were to be elected mayor...wow,your in a lot of trouble.Be prepaired to hug a tree and see your taxes go through the roof to pay for social housing,daycare,public transit and all the other socialist agenda.Oh, and most likely a carbon tax of some sort.
Bingo. She may have resonated in her ward before, and rode on Jack's Coat-Tails to Ottawa, but I doubt, her style will be popular outside of the core.

In 40 years of being in Toronto, I still haven't see any transit system development. I was recently in Perth, West Australia, where over 9 years, they've put in a hub and spoke system that extends 40 miles outside of the city. I was in Montpelier, France, where in 5 years they put in an almost "sci-fi" web streetcar system. Even dowdy old London, UK, managed to put in the super modern Jubilee line in 5 years!

And on the issues that I have heard her speak on, she was remarkably, but honestly, incorrect on the underlying facts on which she based her heartfelt opinion.

It's well-documented that they paid market value to live in that housing co-op. In other words, in addition to the rent charged for their unit, they paid the co-op an additional amount equivalent to the CMHC subsidy. The co-op board argued a mix of tenant incomes improved the success/value of the co-op. There was a formal investigation into accusations they abused the system, but Layton and Chow were cleared of any allegations of wrong-doing.
As for Olivia Chow as mayor ... well, maybe not.
