I read somewhere that Lawrie would bat in the 5th slot. Rasmus I guess could then bat 6th.
Whoever wrote that is clueless.
Probably idiot boy Steve Simmons at the Sun I'll bet.
Lawrie doesn't hit heavy enough to protect JB or EE. You need a heavy bat like Lind to protect them.
Lawrie is a runner - he needs to be back to back with Reyes hitting doubles NOT going up to bat bases empty after JB and/or EE have hit homeruns.

I think you may be wrong. I think the top 4 are set the way they are.

I agree. No way Lawrie bumps Cabrera from #2 hole.

IMHO, Melky is better at 3 setting the table for Bautista and tallying RBI's with JB and EE.

10 run explosion. Buehrle had a forgettable outing, but we win anyway. Janssen SERIOUSLY untouchable in the 9th.

I wonder of Lawrie may end end up in the 7 hole to tart the season. I think it will depend on if Lind gets it going this year. If he doesn't he may be out and they bump Brett to the 2 or R hole depending on Melky's numbers.

Panic on hold.
Remain on alert !

Good thing the offence finally showed up because the starters are so-so.

The Cleveland thing will be quickly forgotten with a good showing against Boston.

Lawrie will bat in the bottom half of the line up. Top 4 are there for a while anyway. Look for Lind to move out of the 5 spot.

Tonight we welcome that turncoat back. Been practising my booing and cat calls.
Hope the boys do us proud. Anxious to see Johnson.

When Lawrie returns, the Jays probably are the fastest team in MLB. They could probably win every 4x100 relay against any other team. BTW: Bautista said his ankle is a bit tender but should be good to go to-night.

its such a long season. a team can afford to go on 2-3 major losing streaks and still make the playoffs
not worried

If they need more speed, they can always bring up Gose. He may be the fastest in the organization.

I had a chance to view the 2013 Blue Jays live last night for the first time this year. I think they have a fantastic team. Agreed with previous posters that something has to (or will) be done with Lind. Dude is like a wet blanket in that lineup. Perhaps they are looking to showcase him so that another team will take him and his contract off their hands? My suggestion is to have EE at 1st full time and put someone/anyone else other than Lind at DH. I say put Rajah Davis in there at the 8 spot rather than Lind in the 5 spot. Anyway, back to last night's game. The pitching left a lot to be desired on both sides. It seemed that last swing was going to win. Thankfully Casey came up big in the 9th. Both sides have some serious offensive talent. I'm not at all concerned about a 1-2 start for the Jays. Let's not forget that Cleveland has one heck of a team. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a post season preview as I could totally see Cleveland making as much noise as Toronto this year.

You must have a heavy bat in the 5 spot - Davis, Lawrie, and Rasmus hit way too light to protect Bautista and Encarnacion from pitch aways

If you want to move Melky to 5 that's OK but anyone else other than Lind is a joke in that spot

I'd be OK with....... Reyes--Lawrie--Bautista--Encarnacion--Cabrera--Lind--Arencibia--Rasmus--Bonifacio
OR
Reyes--Cabrera--Bautista--Encarnacion--Lind--Arencibia--Rasmus--Lawrie--Bonifacio

BUT you cannot have a light hitter (low power) hitting 5. No way no how. Any suggestion to the opposite is ridiculous.
