To ascribe the profound changes in Quebec, and particularly to the Roman Catholic Church in Quebec, as does Margaret Wente merely to the fact that Québécois/Québécoise are more urban, wealthier and better educated than they were sixty years ago is to put it mildly simplistic.
Not really. I think she's saying that previous conditions allowed for the church to be completely dominant in every way.
The blowback against the church is in direct proportion to the amount of power it exerted over the community.
It seems that this is happening in other societies where the church ruled with an iron fist, i.e. Ireland, Italy.
Don't let the spectacle in Rome fool you, the church in Italy is fading fast.

There is no research because it never happened. As for being lazy, seeing how google does all your work for you, you're too lazy to formulate your own opinion. Is that the thread where you asked me if I was 12 and called me a "little one"? No, I try to stay away from the weirdness, thanks.
So I'm guessing you didn't bother reading the my recent post with the references in the other thread.

Now you're trying to muddy the water by saying I'm lazy because I use Google. Gee, there are members who demand references when someone post something they don't believe , so it only strengthens a poin with somet when you can offer one up. Opinions based on ignorance or fantasy are useless, but you're good at that.

The well known research done by Phillip Schwadel and the Gallup poll did happen.

How many threads on the pope and religion are on the go right now? It's not that hard to find.

Trying to stay a way from weirdness, wtf? You're just a lazy know-it-all newbie, or is it wannabe know-it-all.

We can do this all day, or you can BACK OFF. Your choice.
Interesting to see you think this is a competition, which it isn't. I'd need a creditable opponent for that, but of course you blew any thoughts of that out the door days ago and continue to confirm it daily.

Please, you have no sense of humor or any improvisation skills and frankly, you bore me. Lets get back to the topic, shall we?

We are on topic. It was you that was muddying things up. If you say something that's funny, I'll laugh.
See the difference is, people laugh WITH me and AT you. They don't care that you regurgitate facts from google, they can do that themselves. How many PMs you get of people telling you how funny you are? I had to clear my PM box. Stop looking your nose down at people for having a different opinion than the article you posted from google. Come up with your own opinion. Oh wait, you can't, google doesn't let you.

Wow you had to clear your PM box, what a hero. Too bad you couldn't post some of them, now that they're gone. Considering some of the member post in the threads regarding yours comments, I doubt it's as you say.

I don't look down on those who differ, just those that rant on about supposed facts they can't or won't back, a big difference.

Sure bud. And people care about regurgitated articles from google. What happened to you yesterday? After I proved you wrong, you disappeared and your buddy aardy showed up, you weren't upset, were you?

When exactly did you prove me wrong? Did you wake up shortly afterwards?

The above statement I would entirely agree with.

I don't believe many today particularly those under the age of 60 (which I presume is most of TERB), realize how extremely ultramontane, unwilling to have any dealings with other denominations, and indeed antisemitic (take a look at the outdoor stations of the cross at Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré) the Roman Catholic Church in Quebec was.

I apologize to everyone on this thread. Not for my views but for what had occurred. Everyone saw that I didn't want to continue "debating" with that member and he continued. Anyway enjoy your thread.

Well then you do what seemingly you are saying you are now going to do. You don't bother to reply.

Wonderful! It is agreed upon then! There we be peace across the land!

Oh and BTW, when you tell people not to reply, it makes you look like a douchebag and the person ends up replying anyways.

wow, in your dreams. since it had nothing to do with the topic at hand it was really no big deal, and you are clearly desperate for some form of victory to try and say that was proof that my points on the topic of this thread were wrong.

My apologies to all 12 year olds for the insult.
