Yes I do. A much nicer guy, BUT for sure he has blundered with his rough edges. But I would sooner be in a fox hole with Rob than Adam Vaughn. Or have a beer etc.

How come Toronto is the only municipality in Canada that projects to spend less this year than last year? And a couple of questions on the Police. When was their contract negotiated and has the Ford administration demanded a 10& rollback in total budget over two years? And who is not complying with the roll back? Bill Blair, Millers favourite for the post. Budget aside, Blair should be dismissed for his G20 non-handling.
The problem is that so many people don't care if governments spend like drunken sailors then tax the hell out of the citizens. Hey, no problem spending millions of dollars a year to cover interest when we could be spending that on the people in the city who need it the most.

I for one like the fact that the city has gone in a different direction. Sure I'm not thrilled how everything's gone and yes Ford is far from a polished speaker, but I think his heart really is in the right place. He's done some good things that many city Councillors have agree with. Like Celticman mentioned said, Toronto is the only municipality in Canada that projects to spend less this year than last. Police aside, he's got a bunch of deals done with unions that haven't resulted in strikes and also contracted out garbage.

Nobody is perfect but after 7 years of Miller constantly increasing deficits, taxes and debts, Ford has actually done done some good. Oh, and the zoo and my library haven't close either.

Ford’s appeal: Four potential outcomes:

http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/1293546--ford-s-appeal-four-potential-outcomes

Scenario 1: Ford appeals and is granted a stay of the judgment.

When Ford appeals, his lawyer will ask for a stay of the judgement, meaning Ford would remain mayor during the appeal process.

A stay might be granted to avoid plunging council into chaos as they scramble to find an interim mayor, said Trevor Farrow, a law professor in administration of justice at York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School.

“My hunch on this one is that a stay would be granted, given the significant political issues at stake,” he said. “But it could go either way.”

Scenario 2: Ford appeals and is not granted a stay.

If Ford isn’t granted a stay, city council can either appoint a member of council to be mayor or hold a by-election.

But could Ford run in a by-election? It’s a matter of debate. The decision simply states Ford will not be disqualified “beyond the current term,” leading many to infer that he could run in a by-election.

John Mascarin, a municipal and land use planning specialist at law firm Aird and Berlis LLP, said the definition of a “term” is four years. “The wording is not as clear as one would have liked, but I have to say, I don’t think Ford can run in a by-election.”

Scenario 3: Ford isn’t granted a stay, and wins the appeal.

In this scenario, it’s unclear what would happen to the interim mayor once Ford is returned to office.

“We’re in uncharted waters here,” Mascarin said. “You could see council saying, ‘Look, council did what it had to do, and went ahead and appointed somebody. That person should have supremacy.’”

At the same time, the Ford camp could fairly say that he was the original mayor, and would have remained in office if not for a wrongful decision.

“That’s the worst-case scenario. That’s why I think there’s a really good chance Ford is going to get a stay.”

Scenario 4: The appeal court upholds the original decision.

Ford only gets one chance to appeal. If he loses, it’s over — and Farrow said it would be a difficult appeal.

The Muncipal Conflict of Interest Act is clearly written: when conflict of interest has been found, the automatic penalty is removal from office.

Farrow said Ford’s best chance would be to argue that he did commit an error in judgment; however, that may be a tough sell.

“The evidence on the record is clear,” he said. “He knew what was happening and decided to proceed anyway.”

I get around.
If the judge had full discretion instead of having to impose a minimum sentence (kicked out of office) I think a creative penalty would have been best. Instead of removing him from office require him to walk up and down queen street in front of city hall for a full 8 hours on a Saturday wearing a sandwich board sign that reads "I cheated the taxpayers of Toronto" on one side, and "I wrongly believed I was above the law" on the other.

That would have been a fitting penalty for the crime.
The law makes sense but the lawmakers probably did not anticipate a mayor being arrogant and self-absorbed and willfully ignorant enough to abuse his position by shaking down donors for something as petty as funding a high school football team.

Aaah, Rob Ford - the Herman Goering of Canadian municipal politics. Big, bumptious, silly, foolish and blowing hard right up until the end. And like Goering and his claim that the Kommunists burned down the Reichstag, Ford too will have his pinko betrayal myth.

Really? If Miller had volunteered as much time as Ford has to a worthwhile cause, your tongue would have been buried so far up his anus.

I on the other hand look a what Ford does as a good thing, just as I would have had Miller done similar volunteer work. I didn't like Miller for some of his policies but I'd give credit where credit is due. I find it interesting that some hate people so much that even if they were to do something to benefit them or anyone else, they're too simple-minded to even understand it.

I just think this is ridiculous:

a. he was accused of graft
b. he wasn't involved in any obstruction of justice or public corruption
c. he wasn't involved in a criminal enterprise

This would be like you or me getting fired for taking a stack of pens home from work.

1. There would not be enough room in a foxhole for anyone else once Ford wedeged his way into it.
2. "Ford is removed from a Maple Leafs game after shouting insulting comments at other fans. A man had reportedly asked Ford to be quiet, so the councillor, who later admitted to being drunk, said something cordial like "Who the fuck do you think you are? Are you a fucking teacher?... Do you want your little wife to go over to Iran and get raped and shot?" "
3. "For the second time in as many months, police officers were called to Mayor Rob Ford's Etobicoke home about a reported domestic dispute, the Toronto Star reports.
Ford's mother-in-law made the call Christmas Day between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m., claiming the mayor had been drinking and was taking his children to Florida against the wishes of his wife, Renata, the newspaper reported Friday."

This drunk belligerent abusive asshole is a guy you want to have a beer with?

What I compare being mayor to, is swimming with the sharks. And if he could be on city council for a decade and be too lazy to ever bother to read the regulations about conflict of interest...it's his own fault at the end of the day

He is a fucking piece of shit. I hope he loses the other court case too.
so if Rob Ford speaks his mind its not ok. But if you or one of your left wing pinko buddies speaks your mind (calling the mayor a fat fuck) its ok.

The problem is that the left wing pinko nutbars in this city think they are entitled to your pens, if they were given to you as "your pens"

If his mind is that when a bike commuter is killed "it's their own fault at the end of the day" , then he can go eat a bag of fuck.

And why call out "left wing pinkos"?! It should be conservatives who are most upset AT Ford. Or does being tough on crime only apply to people who are not registered with the Conservative party?

No it's not. This is what it's like:
There's a middle management guy at work who gets by doing as little as possible but the boss likes him because he's always telling the boss about how bad other employees are. Then he inexplicably gets promoted to an executive position he's not actually qualified for.
And then, without asking anyone in HR if it's okay, he starts telling the top corporate clients that it would really help, if you know what I mean, if they would contribute to his own personal charity.

That's what it's like, and as soon as it was discovered he'd be canned.

Yeah well does that surprise you? (sarcasm)... Did you ever hear about the media going after someone like Barbara Hall, did they ever call her a "big ugly fat fuck"? Surely not everyone agreed with her politics but why did they hold back? I remember the worst Miller got called was "His Blondeness". No media with cameras knocked on his door, took pictures over his fence, questioned his kids at his cottage, followed him around to snap a picture of him going into a restaurant. I don't think any person on any political side deserves that. But hey, Rob's fat. Fair game for some guess!

But as it is, shallow minded people will resort to the only way they've ever been able to communicate, by bullying. Only much easier now that they can hide behind a keyboard.

Yup, its really great that Ford is volunteering his time to show people his knowledge of athleticism.
I'm sure they'll learn a lot, say, how to chase reporters.
Fumbling your own hand off and how to alienate your whole team.

In fact, I think its really great news that he can now devote himself full time to his charity work instead of stiffing the taxpayers who were paying his football time, transportation and support staff.

I wish him all the success on his new career.
May he never set foot in city hall again.
