This is a shameful example of Canadian democracy being negated by mere politics. Those who rejoice at this just because they don't like a particular politician, are not democrats. Shameful to see us waste our democracy, no matter how much you may hate Rob Ford.
Except he broke the law. Egregiously and willfully in fact, and for a trifling sum of money.

Without the rule of law, democracy is just mob rule.

No, you broke my post. But keep deluding yourself into thinking democracy and Toronto have been well-served by this witchhunt. No, seriously, keep arguing that this is actually a big deal and we should all lose our mayor (whether you love him or hate him) over such nonsense. Please, seriously we are interested in your ramblings.
It's hard to believe that the mayor is such an idiot that this happened to him. How many different times did different people tell him his behavior was inappropriate? How many chances did he have to just apologize and make things right? How many times did he ignore advise to stand down or correct his behavior?

-- When he was first told not to use his official letterhead by others on council he could have just stopped and it would have ended there
-- When he was warned to stop by the integrity commissioner, he could have just stopped--and it would have ended
-- When it was brought before council as an issue, he could have just apologized--and it would have ended
-- When it got to a demand for him to repay the money, he could have just repaid the $3k, and that would have been the end of it
-- When it came up to a vote, and he was told not to vote on the issue, he could have listened

He had so many opportunities to avoid this outcome, but he believed he was above the law. This was not some single mis-step and a witch hunt, this is a pattern of Ford thumbing his nose at people and believing that the laws are only for others, that the rules don't apply to him.

You are right that it is a big deal, but you are putting the blame in the wrong place. Ford did this to himself.

How about McGuinty though, who pops up from his gopher hole to say something then quickly retreats before being cornered for corruption allegations. The hypocrisy is unbelievable. Guess McGuity is above the law. One rule for the leftwing polticans and another rule for the right wing politicans (Ford)

So which law did McGuinty break? Can you cite the specific law? Or are you just fantasizing that there is one?

lol youre such a tool. ford is much much cleaner than mcguinty will ever be
So he should be easy for even amateurs like you or PornAddict, who seems to feel as you do, to come up with a shred or two of actual evidence. After all, Ford was so much cleaner, and that took just one amateur to convince the judge, with what he found.

But then again, you guys could just be Ford Nationals blowing. Like 911 conspiracy nerds, only without the engineering drawings and videos. Without anything at all, in fact.

You mean other than the judicial fact that Ford is a law breaking repeat offender, while McGuinty is a law abiding upstanding citizen.

But hey, look on the bright side, now Ford can spend all the time he wants playing football, and he can even go about hitting everybody up for money, now that he is no longer mayor.

Maybe he can become one of those chuggers hanging around on queen street with a badge and a clip board hitting people up for spare change for his football team.

He sure will have the spare time.

Even if Ford survives the conflict of interest saga, another legal iceberg looms dead ahead that could sink his mayoralty.

A forensic accounting company is conducting an audit of Ford’s campaign finances. It was ordered by the city’s compliance audit committee and initially fought in court by Ford.

Froese Forensic will offer a written opinion, expected within the next two months, on whether it appears that Ford contravened the Municipal Elections Act.

If the company finds “apparent contraventions,” the city’s compliance audit committee will decide whether to pursue charges. If charges are laid, a judge would eventually render a decision.

The law says violators face removal from office, a fine of up to $25,000, and, for any violation “committed knowingly,” up to six months in jail.

Anyone want to lay a wager of whether or not Ford's campaign financing is all above board? I think Ford would look good in an orange jumpsuit. LOL

Then there is the civil suit for slandering the owner of the Boardwalk Cafe. I'd love to know what ol' Rob's legal fees are these days.

Its getting more and more difficult to keep up with all of Ford's misadventures.
