Bard also hit Escober earlier in the game. Both near the head but thankfully missed. Bard was pulled after that as he was having real problems with his control.

Hutchison had a very good game as Jays won. Tough series against the White Sox coming up. Sox on a 9 - 1in their last 10 games.
Bard has also hit Bautista (Spring Training 2012) and Corey Patterson in Spring Training 2011. He's got a history of plunking Jays batters. While not intentional, if he continues to rack up the HBP count with the Jays batters he'll get a target on his back soon enough.

He's now hit 8 batters this season and is tied for the league lead.

So how fast can Vlad get up here now, lol.
Lets hope EE is OK. You could hear the pitch hit the bone on the TV. It didn't sound or look good.
Looked at the Vegas team stats last night. Lind is hitting a ton. Strikeouts still a little high. Snider numbers are good too but I believe he is just off the DL.
Thames no where near the other two. If Lind has found his stroke and confidence he could be back soon.

Great to see Cooper hitting. I am glad that he is getting a decent chance. I think this guy is a major league hitter and all he had done is increase his market value.

heard a reporter from fox sports yesterday and he suggested the Jays could trade EE, Escobar and/or Johnson before the season ends.

If EE continues to hit like this, I believe he will be considered a core franchise player, along with Bautista and Romero and most unlikely to be traded, except in a blockbuster "star for star" deal.

Apparently his contract expires at seasons end and he will be in for a huge raise if he continues to hit(and I expect he will), so with the thought he will demand a big contract and currently has a ton of value he will be shopped.

Jays draft ...
DJ Davis, a high school outfielder who has some pop and is reported to be very fast.
Marcus Stroman, RHP from Duke U. He is a power pitcher and may be MLB ready by September. Report says could become a closer.

Then three high school kids ...
Matt Smoral, LHP
Mitch Nay, third baseman
Tyler Gonzales, RHP

I wondered when they'd put Lawrie in leadoff. Great spot for him with his speed. Rasmus feels at home in the 2 hole. That was a good game last night. Hope they keep it up

Nice to see Rasmus hit the way everyone hoped he would. That was an awesome display and it was without , arguably, their best bat EE.
Bullpen is driving me to drink. May as well have kept Rauch Francisco and Gregg.

The pen ain't great that's for sure, but I think they are marginally better then the aforementioned trio. Leading off, Lawrie reminds me a bit of Ricky Henderson, with his speed, hitting ability and cockiness. Ricky was much better at drawing walks however and hit an incredible 81 home runs to start games. Something for Lawrie to shoot for.

Here
What I see is that this is, indeed, a team with a great deal of talent. But, frequently, with their heads not where they should be.

Too many of them seem, too often, not to be playing within themselves. Instead, they try to perform beyond their natural abilities rather than letting their talent carry them to maximum performance.

Case in point: Romero... when he makes a mistake or is unhappy with his performance he gets terribly angry... which leads him to trying even harder and falling apart. :frusty:

But I am happy to eat my words about Rasmus. His face and body language over the past 2 weeks or so is entirely different than what they were before and seems to show that he has turned his head around 180° lately: the results are obvious.

"They" say that confidence breeds success and preparation breeds confidence [and success breeds confidence]. That is only in part true: as I like to frequently quote, "90% of this game is half mental."

With Janssen performing so well and Santos hopefully back soon, I think the relief pitching will improve greatly. And I anticipate Guerrero in left field which may be a bit of an adventure, but his bat will do the talking.

"An adventure" may be an understatement. He could make Thames look like Jim Edmonds. lol

I liked this order at the moment......

Lawrie
Rasmus
Bautista
Encarnacion (DH)
Johnson
Escobar
Arencibia
Cooper
Davis

Although I hope to see this by July....

Lawrie
Rasmus
Bautista
Guerrero (DH)
Encarnacion
Johnson
Escobar
Gomes
Arencibia

w/ Cooper, Davis, and Mathis off the bench

I had my Brandon Morrow bobblehead doll in front of me during tonight's game.

It seems there's a different hero each time they win. Different hitters, different pitchers. Pretty good job of "ham and egging" it.

It's been a great series so far. I agree with Kathleen, Lawrie and Rasmus at the top of the line-up is pretty decent. Especially Rasmus, who seems to be back on track to being the player the Jays thought they acquired last year. Lawrie is just really fun to watch. He makes alot of errors, but that's partly because his range allows him to get to balls other third basement aren't able get to. A little like Alomar in that respect
I also like the kid Cooper. He has a really nice stroke, and actually seems to have a bit of pop. It'll be interesting to see if he can adjust to big league pitching after they've seen him a few times. Bautista's average is down, but his power seems reasonably close to what it's been the last couple years. As long as he can hit 35-40 homers, he'll be fine

I am worried about Alvarez and Drabek though. Alvarez doesn't strike out enough batters and it seems like too many of his pitches are up near the strike zone and hittable. Drabek is too wild. And of course our bullpen is still far from settled, although Janssen is doing well as the closer and Cordero seems to be pitching better. It'll be interesting to see how Santos does when he's healthy again

It would be really nice to sweep Chicago, string a few wins together. Right now the AL East's pretty wide open, but the Yankees are playing really well now, so Toronto has to keep pace
