after 4 games in AAA Guerrero hitting .176......Adam Lind after 17 games .394. Lind has 16 strikeouts in the 17 games.
I just don't get the whole Guerrero deal. Like how much more productive is he likely to be than Davis if he plays left? Considering the various talents Davis has, I'd say breakeven at best. There's currently a log jam at first and DH, so I don't see him fitting in either of those spots. Someone enlighten me....please.

Is there a new sheriff in town? Morrow seems to be the ace of this team this year. No disrespect to Romero, but he's not the leader this year.

If it all pans out, then it is called an embarrassment of riches!

And that would be a dramatic change for the BJ's.

I'm with you. I don't see him helping other than as a September call to Pinch hit. That turf will kill his knees and anything you get offensively will be negated defensively. He swings at anything and everything, I just don't see where he fits in.

I think it was a low risk/high return proposition. And still is. And whenever you come across such a proposition, you should take it, too! :biggrin1:

Neither do I. I'd rather bring Lind back up. Not only do I question what VG can contribute, but his arrival will make the line-up very right-handed (I know Rajai is righthanded, but his skill set has more upside than VG's at this point.

Gotta remember we got him when it seems that 1/2 the team was hitting below the Mendoza line. The bats have definitely come around since then. When we first signed him the general consensus was that he'd be a good addition.

But as Perry said, it is a very low risk move.

Signing Guerrero was smart. Things change and I don't see the fit now, however, he isn't bankrupting you in the minors and if you ever need another bat, it is there. Not knocking the signing. I just don't see him as a part of the big team at the moment.

He'll be DH wiih only a few starts at first i'm, he'll probably get as many position starts as Omar is getting now, and he hast hurt us defensively.

With Lind doing so badly, and him costing so little,it was a good gamble, Id still rather have the Lind of 09 back , but Guerrero is a nice stopgap for now as we wait for others to develop, or Lind to find his stroke again.

So who you putting on first EE or Cooper? They both need playing time. Hard to bench or platoon EE, but Cooper is looking pretty good.

Omar was not brought here for his bat. He's here for his defensive skills and his savvy. Guerrero was signed for his bat. At the moment I would play a healthy EE over him. The bats are coming alive and if those bats can play a position they should get priority over Guerrero too.

There's no doubt Morrow is the Ace year. Morrow has already pitched 3 shut outs. He is in very elite company by accomplishing that this far in the season. When I say very elite company, I'm not just talking about this year. Very few pitchers have ever thrown 3 shut outs this far into the season. In contrast, Romero is very lucky to be 7-1 or 8-1 or whatever is record is.

Romero would be better if he could throw the damn ball over the plate. Right now, he has poor command of his pitches and runs a lot of long counts. Consequently, there are too many walks and worse, fat pitches thrown on batter counts.

While Romero is a concern, I think Cordero is a bigger concern, ERA 5.70 WHIP 1.73 W/L 1-4. He has blown saves and holds. Watch the body language of his team mates when he is coming in. The guy is making over $4,000,000.00 this year. If you can put Lind on waivers surely you can do the same for him. No matter who you replace him with the results shouldn't be any worse.
Another AA reliever that sucks!

I agree. He's the only one who makes me real nervous when he comes in.

Wasn't so long ago when the Nationals were cellar dwellers. Now they've gone from worst to first, and look like they belong there. Must be doing a good job of scouting. Same thing with the Orioles. Those two could meet in the world series, but likely not.
