Here
Well, now that I have watched a few games...

"Very interesting"... as in too early in the season to tell anything, but had the BJ's vaunted 8th and 9th inning pitching -- their most reliable strength -- not fallen down, they could just as easily have been 8 & 1 as 5 & 4.

Their 3 new regulars -- Lawrie, Johnson and Rasmus -- are a huge improvement over last year/s and showing more than merely flashes of real greatness. And their two additions to the starting pitching -- Alvarez ad Drabek -- are looking great.

Now, if they can just get all cylinders firing with reasonable consistency we could have a post season after all!

Exciting -- even if frustrating -- team to watch.

Just Plain Awful at catcher, batting a solid .071 OBP .133 Slg .179 and terrible defence.

Travis D'arnaud cannot get to Toronto soon enough.

too early to start looking at MLB stats. Look at the Blue Jays, their averages, for the most part, suck. One good game at the plate and those batting averages move way up.

I gave up watching Toronto sport teams years ago... Raptors Suck.. Leafs Suck.. Blue Jays SUCK too and TFC, TFWHAT THE FUCK!?!@?!.. year after year of disappointment yet sucker fans still buy fuckin' tickets. These teams' owners dont give a shit as long as sucker fans keep buying the tickets, watching them on tv and buying their merchandise. Toronto's just gonna continue SUCKING!

Aside from Overbay whose numbers do you think will change by more than 50 points?

Good game tonite. Great defense as usual, and very good relief pitching. Good to see them hold the lead in the late innings and Santos looked solid. Got a lot of mileage from a fairly low number of hits. Great to see Bautista and Lind go deep. Tomorrow will be tough against Price.

using your train of thought Blue Jays may as well scrap the year, Escobar .208, Rasmus .200, Bautista .222, Arencebia .062 not to mention Santos 2 blown saves and an ERA of 9.00.

I still say too early for MLB stats. One good week for a team or an individual can change those numbers dramatically this early in the season.

Those former Jays have posted at least one full season with numbers close to those. The Jays you listed all have much better potential to improve their stats than the castoffs aside from maybe Rasmus and at much lower cost.

Would you really want any of them back? As much as Wells, Hill, Overbay and J Mac are all fine men they were good dumpings.

Put nothing into baseball stats until guys have played at least 30 games and had 100 at-bats.
Escobar, Rasmus, and Bautista will be fine given more at-bats.
I mean right now if any of them go 3-4 or 4-4 in one game their average will jump 30-40 points overnight.
The one I worry about is Arencibia - he looks completely lost right now at the plate.

At no time have I defended these players. No, I don't want them back nor do I expect to see them back. Like most Blue Jay fans I was a huge supporter of Johnny Mac and I especially wish him well.
