This hobby can get pretty expensive. I think the girls would prefer cash, but might still be willing to barter if there was something they needed. I was wondering if anyone has tried bartering for services and what they used to barter with. I was thinking website design would be a good thing to barter. ESL tutoring? Plumbing or renovations? Accounting or tax services?

I'm a big fan for bartering and negotiating for a good price in many things, but there are some areas of commerce where it's just dumb. If you can't pay don't play, sorry. It's like ordering a round of drinks for your friends and asking for a deal from the waitress if you doubled up your order.

If it is just chump change you are short of to pay for a $60 BJ advertised
in Craiglist use of Canadian Tire money may be acceptable to some SP.

Ladies, feel free to join this conversation any moment now.

Just how insulted are you by the OP?

Or do you currently have dire need for a plumber?

wow...so much negativity lol
not a surprise though. i have posted about bartering for services and people reacted the same way, years ago.

i personally am a big fan of barter.
in so many cases it is win=win

if you have something to offer, i say post it. people are going to make a fuss because they think its ridiculous. ive never understood why...but what does it matter? if us SP's are interested that is all that matters, right?

i have exchanged services for: flights, electronics, and car repairs.

it takes some finesse and trust sometimes, but not always. sometimes it is very straightforward

have fun :)

I can see how electronics and car repairs can be bartered for SP services, but flights are tough to do, unless it is a private plane. It takes the right circumstances and the willingness of both parties to accept the barter that is proposed. Most of the time I would imagine it would be the SP making the offer of alternative services in place of cash for services/goods at the close of the original transaction. To make the barter more acceptable, it would facilitate matter if the person making the offer is willing to enhance the deal by taking a discount.

The biggest problem with bartering is the giving up of anonymity. But if both parties can get more out of the transaction than otherwise through an exchange of cash, I don't see the big deal.

I take no offense when approached for an offer of legimate services. The ones that I do not appreciate are offers from someone who isn't a professional like a guy with a point and shoot camera offering to take pictures. I have bartered for painters, mechanics, lawn maintenance, tech assistance and rent. It can't hurt to ask...

I'm lost as to why so many people are ragging on the OP. However you wish to see it, the SP / Client relationship is a business transaction (typically anyway). Where there is business there is always an opportunity for creative solutions that satisfy both parties. See "Negotiating 101". Not suggesting everybody is in need of something other than cash, but where a true value added service can be offered, that would otherwise cost the SP cash, why not consider it? (PS yes I have done it and have had success so I am sort of biased!);)

I don't think the OP is stupid at all for asking, it's a legitimate thing in my opinion. Years ago, pre-TERB, I got an hour of fun in exchange for changing the front brakes on a girl's car. Once drove a stripper from Oshawa to London and had a couple of stops along the way for some roadside action. What's the problem?

Could some of the SPs and clients that have bartered previously give examples of past tranactions? What would be considered an acceptable an equitable transaction? Would a SP waive the usual $300 hourly fee in exchange for a $220 car repair?

When I was in University, a girl I knew slept with her Landlord once a week in exchange for rent.

She thought it was a good deal because she actually liked the guy.
