Ovechkin has turned the corner.
Played great against the Sens and equally as well against the Leafs.
Capitals are playing like their old selves.

The Caps played OK last night. To me that still is not the team that has finished at or near the top the past few NHL seasons.
Ovechkin turned the corner ? Playing better, OK, but only a little better in my opinion. He made some bad passes/plays, the Leafs just did not take advantage.
The Leafs, actually, did not play too bad. They took too many penalties, too many stupid penalties and the PK sucks again. Put Steckel on the IR for seven days. Did Grabovski even play ? Reimer is still not 100% or has not found his grove yet. At least Kessel is scoring again, two in two. I would say the PP sucks, but that would indicate that I notice when they have the man-advantage. The ONLY reason I know that they have a PP is the score box in the upper corner of my TV screen, it has a penalty timer.
I rarely complain about the penalties the Leafs get, and last night the calls against the Leafs looked OK, but the Capitals seemed to get away with a few while the Leafs got nailed for everything including going down two.
Three days off before next game. The Leafs need to fix the PP and the PK. If guys are hurt do not put them on the special teams.
Is it just me thinking that Armstrong could have used a game or two with the Marlies before getting back into NHL games. I always thought a good guideline was if you missed 10 games, or two weeks with out skating, that an AHL game or two would be good. Reimer could have played a couple with the Marlies.
yes for sure although montreal won gaining ground but either way nj would of gianed ground if they won as they were tied, but atleast it wasnt aa 3 point game and alot of the time there are often 3 point games when the leafs are off ...the hockey gods love the leafs lol

I would really like to see Kessel start scoring ... goals. He has two recently, I would like to see him get hot again.
Still need secondary scoring to pick up.
I think a trade is coming. I just have a feeling Burke is working on something.
Who will start in goal ? Would be a good game for Reimer to get his first win, but the team has to come to play. The Leafs should take advantage of a struggling Eric Staal.

Ditto.. I think Reimer will convince me a when he plays a couple of seasons more but healthy and approximately 60 games. I trade for Halak or Miller will secure them a playoff spot.
Miller has a no-trade clause in his contract. He's not coming to Toronto.
Why would St Louis be interested in trading Halak?
well the leafs should of won by more tonight the offence has to step up other then kessel and lupal as if they arnt scoring the leafs would be struggling to win games
The offence was actually not too bad, they just ran into a solida Cam Ward tonight; it happens...
Have you not seen how dominant Brian Elliot has become? He has only given up more than 2 goals once this year, and leads the league in shutouts, GAA, and sv%. He's the same age as Halak too. I don't see why the Blues would want to play halak at this point. Elliot has show no signs of weakness all year long.
Players have hot streaks.
Brian Elliott is a back up goaltender who is riding a wave.
Halak is a much better goaltender.
Elliott is a U.F.A. at the end of this season, who is going to tend goal for the Blues moving forward?
Also, the Leafs have very little cap space ($371,443), Halak has a cap hit of $3,750,000, who would you trade to St. Louis?
Do you really think his goaltending is more than twice as good as Reimer, because that is what the Leafs would be paying.

Yeah, times 7. Maybe they should wear their 1960's uniform and break the jinx. Ntm, it is also Boston's turn to lick our chops.

When he comes bk from injury lolElliot has played long enough to even be consider a short term hot streak. I'm not saying St Louis will trade him, but we could tender a trade offer when his value is low. You could presumably say the same thing about Reimer as well, his limited experience is only a hot streak.
