This means that 8 out of the 8 positions hit at least 20 HR's? Did Left Field also hit 20 HR's? It was a bit if a revolving door out there.

The Jays would have to offer EE a minimum of 4.5 million through arbitration. (cannot offer less then 15% of prior year salary)... the problem is once you do not offer a potential FA arbitration, they cannot re-sign with you until May 1.

Same reason I don`t think they will keep Overbay. There is no way they are offering him $6.7M in arbitration. So they will not tender him.

Even if Encarnacion and Overbay were interested in the Jays at a reasonable price, if they want to test the market a bit then the Jays are a SOL.
Anyone want to hazard a guess as to how Lind would do at first next season?

Lind and Snider are not that good defensively. That is why they have to hit 25-30 HR's and .280-.300 to earn their keep.
Lind, no argument; but, I've heard Alan Ashby say many times that he thinks Snider is a good outfielder. In particular Ashby thinks that Snider has an excellent throwing arm to anywhere in the infield.
He's got deceptive speed for a big guy and managed to steal some bases this year too.

Pretty sure the May 1st thing is gone now.. they can sign anytime.

I googled the May 1 subject and I can't find any news item that it's not there anymore and there are other websites detailing free agency rules for baseball players that show the May 1 rule is still in effect for players like Overbay and Encarnacion who aren't offered arbitration by their teams.
Also, it seems likely that there would have been a newspaper article or two written on the subject if it wasn't there anymore and I haven't seen one. If someone knows otherwise please post a link.

These things are usually changed when new collective bargaining agreements are signed between the players union and MLB and I think the current contract still has a couple of years to run.

This rule has to be something that is coming from the players union and not the teams. The rule puts pressure on teams to offer arbitration or lose the player outright to unrestricted free agency even if player hasn't made it to 6 years service time.
Union wants to keep pressure on teams to keep wages high.
The May 1 rule isolates the team from the player in question for so long that it forces a lot of teams to offer arbitration even though in a lot of cases they're not thrilled about it.

Sandy Alomar Jr., first base coach of Cleveland Indians, has been interviewed for a 3rd time for the vacant Jays Managers job according to TSN.

If he gets it, I hope he does'nt put his little brother Roberto on staff.

I think the Jays should distance themselves from Roberto Alomar due to his being charged with domestic spousal assault back in August; and, also, these accusations that he's been having sex with women while infected with HIV don't leave you with good vibes about this guy.

A few media reports are claiming that John Farrell, Red Sox pitching coach, is going to be announced as the next Blue Jays manager.

I just heard this on the FAN, it is unofficial at this point. I like the idea of a pitching coach/former pitcher as Manager just because he would likely be better able to handle the pitching staff.

The Jays could be holding off making an announcement until after Farrell has assembled his coaching staff. If Farrell is their guy and they don't announce it before Sunday, then they have to wait until after the World Series is complete before they announce the name of the new manager.

The 3 GM's who claim to know that Farrell is going to be the new manager might know because Farrell has asked for permission from a few teams to talk to some of their people about taking accepting a job with the Blue Jays.

Hmm. I did not think of that.
I would have preferred someone with managerial experience as well as the ability to handle pitchers, but one cannot have everything.

I don't know about you or any of the other TERB sport management experts, but I am not afraid to admit that AA knows a hell of a lot more and is privy to all the meetings and inside info that I do not have access to and as such I will assume he makes better choices than I would, regardless of what my parameters would be.

I just hope he was selected because AA deemed him the best for the position. If they hired him because he would be cheaper than someone with Managerial experience, then that is wrong.

I think he did a pretty good job with that redsox staff,,,,He got Clay Buckholtz on the right track.

Also he'll provide some invaluable insight on the Boston pitchers. Hopefully Toronto can then do better next year versus them.

It does no good no put someone in a box. John Farrell knows Baseball, not just pitching. Let him manage. He's a baseball man as is Cito Gaston, not just a 'hitting coach'.
