At first glance the new Amir Johnson signing seems steep! The problem is the bucks signed drew gooden for the same type of money. That deal set the signing floor and Amir was second only to bosh in ppg w 16 last season w more upside then Gooden. It's looking like Bosh and Wade will sign w the Bulls! I would be content if we could pry away Noah from them and a high pick

I don't blame the Raps for feeling this way. Bosh is acting like it's he's on a concert tour and gloating how much he's being wanted by other teams. Saying shit like he wants to be the man and centerpiece on a team. Got news for ya...you ain't no centerpiece cuz he needs James or Wade. Part of me says don't help Bosh at all or make it difficult for him. In the end though, BC have to accept what's best for the team.

According to the Toronto Sun the Raptors have not been impressed by trade proposals submitted by teams so far interested in a sign and trade scenario with Raptors and it's causing a rift between Chris Bosh's group and the Raptors.
Raptors are more interested in trade exemptions and/or draft picks while most teams are looking to dump expensive, toxic, non-performing assets on the Raptors in a trade.

There's a chance Bosh might have to settle for a 5 year 96.1 million deal rather than a sign and trade 6 year 125.5 million dollar deal.

1. Amir did not score 16ppg last year. Not even adjusted for 40 minutes. He did, however, foul at a rate of 7 / 40 min.
2. Bulls won't give up Joakim Noah, let alone Noah + a #1 for Bosh. Bosh and Wade won't sign with the Bulls without Noah and Derrick Rose.

Amir's a good role player, but not someone that can be counted on for 24 minutes or so a game, as is the expectation for the 3rd big man on a decent NBA team.

I agree that Colangelo has to do what's right for the team - part of that is ensuring that the teams gets SOMETHING serviceable or tradeable for Bosh. Because right now, the front court is a mess - all of Bryan Colangelo's doing, I might add. This team is a capped-out, no-defence, little athleticism joke right now.

Lol pretty funny about the Amir stats I quoted from associate press! They have corrected it so I guess I should, 6.2ppg! I know the Bulls won't part w Noah now, I heard they may have months ago. Gut tells me Bosh is goingto take less for the Bulls and fuck the raps w nothing! The Miami deal seems lime the best deal for all parties unfortunately for the raps. Hopefully BC can pull a rabbit out of his hat! He hasn't been able to build a team because bosh wanted instant results!!!The whole thing is a circus w the 3 Kings parading around like they own the world! SAD

Saying that, I don't remember Vince Carter acting like this when his free agent day had come .
Vince Carter was never a free agent when a member of the Toronto Raptors. He has only been a FA once in his NBA career, when with the New Jersey Nets.

So what's the latest on the soap opera? The last I heard is there are several teams interested in doing a sign and trade with the Raps/Bosh, but only Bulls and Heat are the most serious contenders to the Raps. I get the feeling the so called "Big 3" are kind of waiting for each other to make a solid decision. I sensed LBJ's loyalty to Cleveland is real and he would prefer to win a championshio there and create his own legacy instead of following the shadow of MJ in Chicago. Problem is, James is probably not happy with the players they have so far in Cleveland and neither Bosh or Wade wants to go there, lol. Not really sure if anyone wants to play there. Maybe someone can enlighten me, but I don't understand the rumor of Bosh, Wade, James playing in Chicago. I could've sworn I heard that, but with Rose already a PG...how do you fit in both Wade and James?

Exactly - he signed an extension the year before he could have become a free agent. Some people here don't let the facts get in the way of a good discussion...

...The same people who would even consider comparing the way Chris Bosh is acting to the way Vince Carter acted. What a joke - Carter quit on the team, whined about free agent signings, draft picks (including CB4), trades, etc. Asked for a VIP parking spot for mom. I can only imagine if social media was around and popular then.

Chris Bosh gave his all while in a Raptors uniform. Period. End of discussion. He is a free agent and is therefore free to go wherever he wants. I wouldn't consider signing with Toronto, either - the team as constructed and cap-restrained for the next 4-5 years is going nowhere except for 7th-10th (or worse) in the East.

CB4 is likely signing his last significant contract and is in the prime of his career - of course he wants to go where he has the best chance of winning.

Not being a basketball fan, I have no attachment to any Raptor. When the team is doing well, I am happy. When the team is doing poorly, I ignore them.

Don't call me a fairweather fan. I support all Toronto teams (except the Laffs). I follow (and I stress there is a difference) not all of them.

We must understand that Chris Bosh never choose to play for the Raptors ... The Raptors choose him and this is his first opportunity to choose where he wants to play since becoming a pro ...
Wrong agin, guyroch.

Chris Bosh would have been a restricted free agent in the summer of 2007, but he chose to sign a 3 year extension with a player option for a 4th year on July 14, 2006. The deal was worth US$65 million over four years.

Christ Bosh chose to remain with the Toronto Raptors then, he could have elected to go the RFA route, but did not.

He also chose to sign with Toronto rather than play in Europe, when he was drafted.

With Bosh, the Raptors have sucked the past 7 years. Without Bosh, they'll be even worse. I don't expect them to make the playoffs for at least the next 5 years.

Also, if Bosh doesn't join Lebron and/or Wade, he'll probably never get out of the first round of the playoffs the rest of his career.

Well it's better to suck worse then to suck at the level Bosh has had the Raptors in the last 4 years ... 40-42 is a shit record but doesn't get you prime lottery pics or ping ball balls ..
You just conveniently shifted most of the blame for the team's failiures over the last years on Bosh's shoulders. The fact of the matter is if the likes of Bargnani, Calderon, Turk, and previously O'Neal, Marion, Ford were all much more to blame because of their much worse performances than Bosh; the coaches and the person who should bear the majority of blame - Colengelo. Arn't you trying to shift the blame from your 'favourite' players/coache/GM ?

I really don't understand why so many TO fans feel it's so important that the player has to love this city and why is it so bad for Bosh wanting to leave or to promote himself when he already has completed his contract here. He was paid as a star of the game and he performed accodingly and he never asked to be out when he was under contract here. That's all should matter.

He has earned his rights to be a free agent. He has every right just as you or I have to 'twit', self promote or seek attention and why should anyone be pissed about it ?

Because media like Steve Simmons tell them they should. <rolleyes>

If the Raptors had put together a decent team with assets and cap space - whither "the expiring contract of Jermain O'Neal" when it's really needed? - so that the Raps were a contender not only as a team, but to potentially make a pitch to a second free agent "star" (hell, even Joe Johnson) - then I bet that CB4 probably would have stayed or strongly considered staying.

Instead the team has major dollars tied up in non-athletic, no-defence (with the exception of JJ) playing stiffs like Turkoglu, Bargnani, Calderon and Jarrett Jack for the next 4-5 years. And now Amir Johnson! They have one of the worst head coaches in the NBA... sorry, I like Jay T personally, but it's obvious that he's overmatched by the NBA game and its players. With one of the most hated coaches in the NBA as the lead assistant/presumptive replacement for Triano in PJ Carlesimo. Put it this way, who on this team would be able to start of any of the NBA Finalists or even Conference Finalists?

I disagree with the poster above that states Bosh won't get out of the first round of the playoffs without Lebron or Wade. I think there are several situations where he would: Chicago comes to mind, especially if they get any decent outside shooter (JJ Reddick?) It's as much about the coach, team and offensive+defensive schemes.

Bosh is going to bolt w nothing in return for Raps! Raps can't pull off enough in return however the Miami deal is the only valid rumour out there. If Miami does the sign and trade then we get something and if not...

A question

To all those who don't like how Chris Bosh is handling himself as a free agent:

How should he act, according to you?

or

What is he specifically doing that irks you so much?

I'm having a tough time understanding your perspectives. Right now, the posts read like jilted lovers who never really loved CB4 to begin with...

Please enlighten me.

i would soooo welcome a trade to new jersey. to balance it, we'd have to get humphrie's expiring contract, devin harris and favors. favors would be amazing to have to compliment bargs. we needs some raw muscle down low. every playoff team has a muscle down low even if it was dampier in centre for dallas. someone needs to grab the rebounds. having bosh and bargs together made ZERO sense considering they're both perimeter players. okur and boozer is an example of what our combo would look like if we got favors. we'd be over loaded @ the point having harris but im sure its good value which we can trade either him off or jarret jack. i would prefer to get rid of jose but its going to be hard to move him. i didn't do the exact calculations, but if there is room, i'd take courtney lee as well. he's pretty cheap for what he can do.

starting lineup can look like this:
harris, lee, turk, favors, bargs
secondary:
jose (assuming we trade jack), derozen, weems, davis, alabi
depth:
belinelli, evans, humphries

looks good. for a young up and coming team. reason why i put courtney lee in the starting lineup is because he provides a good perimeter defense and doesnt need a lot of touches. derozen and weems will benefit playing second string to develop and hopefully jose can understand his new role and help develop the young guns.

it does sound like an exciting team wont it?

did the numbers. lee probably wont be able to fit into the deal. humphries, harris and favors still sound pretty good. raptor's payroll will be about sub 65 mil most likely which will give us flexibility. TRADE TO THE NETS!!! GO GOG O!
