Why you'd have to be a complete idiot to take a flu shot

The point of my post is never put a foreign substance in your body, for no reason at all.
I wouldn't call this "for no reason at all."

Seasonal epidemics and disease burden

In temperate climates, seasonal epidemics occur mainly during winter while in tropical regions, influenza may occur throughout the year, causing outbreaks more irregularly.

Influenza occurs globally with an annual attack rate estimated at 5%–10% in adults and 20%–30% in children. Illnesses can result in hospitalization and death mainly among high-risk groups (the very young, elderly or chronically ill). Worldwide, these annual epidemics are estimated to result in about 3 to 5 million cases of severe illness, and about 250 000 to 500 000 deaths.

In industrialized countries most deaths associated with influenza occur among people age 65 or older. Epidemics can result in high levels of worker/school absenteeism and productivity losses. Clinics and hospitals can be overwhelmed during peak illness periods.

The precise effects of seasonal influenza epidemics in developing countries are not known, but research estimates indicate that a large percent of child deaths associated with influenza occur in developing countries every year.

I would not say never but avoid when possible.

It may make sense to get vaccinated against some serious life threatening infectious diseases. Getting an annual flu shot where there is little evidence that it prevents deaths is another story.

Had a pile of vaccinations years ago before going overseas - was sick as a dog with fever for 3 days after. Got some serious side effects from an anti malaria drug when I was in Africa. Found out it is now being banned. Think carefully before trusting any "medical authority"

Flu Shots May Not Protect the Elderly or the Very Young

Despite government recommendations, there is little evidence that flu vaccines help individuals older than 65 or younger than two

About 20 years ago my daughter talked me into getting the flu shot. Never had the flu in previous years but did after getting shot. Did that for 3 years in a row and got the flu every time. Never got shot again and have not had the flu since.
Was it full fledged flu? You may have light flue symptoms after getting the shot, but sleep it off, and you'll be fine by the next morning.

All my friends who took the flu shot caught the flu i will never take the flu shot!
You may feel fluish after getting the shot, but it's not the full-fledged virus, just the coating that looks the same. You're body builds anti-bodies, and your temperature may rise. But you can sleep it off. (Nice boobs).

Anti-vac for sure. If it's not for something life threatening that will kill you on contact and you're in decent health it's totally fucking pointless.
if you want extra mercury in your system just make a tuna salad

Yea, take the flu shot. It's not perfect and may not work for everyone but it helps more than it hurts.
Unless you have allergies to the ingredients, as I do. I took the Flu shot twice, and it made me so sick, I spent effectively a month in bed on account of it. Sure, I didn't get the flu. But I was worse off having taken those two particular shots. Funny thing is that, although people around me got the Flu, and one got the particularly bad strain H1N1, I have never had the Flu in all these years of not taking the shot.

So you are not crazy enough to put a gun to your head but drinking coffee laced with cyanide, radiation overdose or any other activity with cumulative life threatening results are ignored.

Specifically which ingredients are you allergic to?

I suspect that it is egg albumin.

http://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-pers...mmends-flu-vaccine-option-those-egg-allergies

There is more than one flu shot, and many ingredients.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_vaccine_ingredients

Influenza vaccine (Afluria)Chicken embryoBeta-propiolactone, calcium chloride, dibasic sodium phosphate, egg protein, monobasic potassium phosphate, monobasic sodium phosphate, neomycin sulfate, polymyxin B, potassium chloride, sodium taurodeoxychoalate, thimerosal (multi-dose vials only)
Influenza vaccine (Agriflu)?Egg proteins, formaldehyde, polysorbate 80, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, neomycin sulfate, kanamycin
Influenza vaccine (Fluarix)Chicken embryoFormaldehyde, octoxynol-10 (Triton X-100), α-tocopheryl hydrogen succinate, polysorbate 80 (Tween 80), hydrocortisone, gentamicin sulfate, ovalbumin, sodium deoxycholate, sucrose, phosphate buffer
Influenza vaccine (Flublok)?Monobasic sodium phosphate, dibasic sodium phosphate, polysorbate 20, baculovirus and host cell proteins, baculovirus and cellular DNA, Triton X-100, lipids, vitamins, amino acids, mineral salts
Influenza vaccine (Flucelvax)?Madin Darby Canine Kidney (MDCK) cell protein, MDCK cell DNA, polysorbate 80, cetyltrimethlyammonium bromide, β-propiolactone, phosphate buffer
Influenza vaccine (Flulaval)Chicken embryoFormaldehyde, á-tocopheryl hydrogen succinate, polysorbate 80, sodium deoxycholate, thimerosal, ovalbumin
Influenza vaccine (Fluvirin)Chicken embryoBeta-propiolactone, egg protein, neomycin, nonylphenol ethoxylate, polymyxin, thimerosal (multi-dose containers), thimerosal[SUP][2][/SUP] (single-dose syringes)
Influenza vaccine (Fluzone)Chicken embryoEgg protein, formaldehyde, gelatin (standard formulation only), octylphenol ethoxylate (Triton X-100),sodium phosphate, thimerosal (multi-dose containers only)
Influenza vaccine (FluMist)Chicken kidney cells, chicken embryoArginine, dibasic potassium phosphate, egg protein, ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid, gentamicin sulfate, hydrolyzed porcine gelatin, monobasic potassium phosphate monosodium glutamate, sucrose

How can I tell which ingredient? All I know is that I had the flu shot twice in my life, and I got very ill for more than a month each time. Because we are in Canada, it was more than likely an Aventis vaccine product. That said, I am supposedly in a higher risk group on account of my diabetes and my age. What am I to do, die of the flu or of the flu shot? Sometimes, life sucks.

I have spent last week with a vicious flu bug after spending Christmas at a big family gathering which including a sick 3 year and his parents. He goes to Pre-K which, if you have kids you know is a breeding ground for viruses. I am now kicking myself not getting a shot this year.

Although, I have never contracted the flu virus, I decided to get the flu shot last November. It went well, no hiccups. I don't know the effectiveness or mercury issue people have with the vaccine, but I thought why not get the shot since I've never partaken before. It's a just in case Vaccine. You don't need it but it's there should you.

People have been vaccinated time and time again with no major issues. Vaccination saves lives. Not everyone needs it but for those who do, it's there.
