Yea, take the flu shot. It's not perfect and may not work for everyone but it helps more than it hurts.

Being 65+ you bet I take it!

Also, as with many vaccines, those who don't take them increase their risk of contracting the respective illnesses, and passing them on to others.

Doctors know more than I do when it comes to medicine.

Never have. Never will.
Booyah!!! WTG MPA2, you tell them girl.

Same here. Only way I will take it if they make it mandatory, like the current mandatary vaccines.

I can't remember last time I got the flu.

This argument is simple. If it was this necessary, they would make it mandatory. Sick and tired of all this brainwashing and people thinking they are medical experts. Yes, my doctor recommends a lot of shit, and sometimes they are wrong and prescribe wrong and need to be corrected by other doctors.

I think if you're over about 50, it makes sense. Other than that, I wouldn't bother.

Haven't had the flu since I was a teenager, maybe a little stuffy nose once in a blue moon but I'll never go for the flu shot. Heck I haven't even puked in over 20 yrs.

I suppose I should. I don't have the healthiest lifestyle. Not enough sleep and really should quit smoking. But isn't the flu shot basically a weaken strain of last year's flu virus? So if this year's strain is vastly different, then its pretty well useless?

Exactly.

It isn't a guarantee or virtual 'cure', but it boosts or prepare your immune system.

For me, it means that I don't sick or not a sick, meaning less days home in bed, or avoiding the worst symptoms, like vomiting.

Not necessarily last year's but a strain from the southern hemisphere where it might have occurred earlier than our flu season. So it's like getting ready in advance to a degree.
