I hope you're talking about the H1, not the H2 OR 3, apparently they're complete pieces of mechanical crap. Buddy who is a phenomenal mechanic told me, he wouldn't take it, even if it was offered to him for free.
But the original hummer <333 ahhh beauty.

ps - low riders = hard on your ass, no thanks :)

Lancer Rallyart

Just picked up a Lancer Rallyart. Sport sedan from Mitsubishi. It's not an Evolution but still has great power (162HP) amazing warranty and all for 30K fully loaded. Actually there is only one package to get Power Sunroof/Infinity sound system.

Take one for a spin before you decide on anything.

Heheh nope. Just funny seeing this post after I bought the car. Wasn't sure I was gonna get it, but the test drive was amazing. I really like rally type cars but never really noticed the Lancer before. I happened to be by a Mitsubishi dealership last week and took a test drive. The short throw shifter was great and was the deal clincher.

The Lancer is one of the top cars for street racing due to their handling and performance right outta the box.....kinda ugly IMO but from a performance aspect, they rock....

As for the exotics, saw a nice Gallardo tooling along the 401 yesterday....talk about a sweet car....

As for the Matrix, I had to admit it, ( and I SO really hate to admit that I'm reccommending a car that is named after a friggin movie) but they are pretty sweet compacts and you can never go wrong buying a toyota...even their bottom end cars (like the echo echo echo echo....) are great quality.....

As for the smart cars, I always thought they were a death trap until I saw a video where they rammed one head on into a concrete barrier at 120 kph and not only did it survive, but the friggin doors still opened...I don't think my F150 would do that....if you're looking for a puddle jumper to tool around the city in, that would be my bet.....either that or one of the new mini's

Don't get a benz. They're continually ranked the worst among the german luxury car manufactueres in customer satisfaction. I remember hearing on Top Gear at one point they were as low as 9th from the bottom. You can google the JD Power UK satisfaction survey to get an idea.

I would purchase a Legacy, I'm just a big scoobi fan and I've owned a Impreza 2.5 RS and a 2001 Legacy GT. Both were incredible cars and I dont think you'll get a better car for canadian weather. The only downside is that they're semi-expensive to maintain. Because of the Boxer engine, a lot of the major stuff like transmission and engine are hard to access and result in high labour costs. Also, they're AWD and that sucks on gas as well. But aside from that you can't get a better car for canadian weather.
i dont necessarily think that weather is an issue if he already has an SUV, i'd go with something bulletproof like the honda

Well I have no doubt you performance car enthusiast will shun me for this but, if you allready own a nice SUV and need a nice bang around the city commuter car I would suggest a look into the Toyota Prius. Yes it's funny looking car and no it wont perform like beemer and the like but on my last visit I made from Philly to Torono on about 40 liters of Gas, you can't beat that.

Go for Option Package 8, that's the leather, JBL audio, Navigation system and a lot of other stuff. Price runs 29,500 here in the states for that level of trim but that should still fall way within your 50K limit including an extended warrenty.

If you want a step up from that then mabie a Camry Hybrid, it looks better and has more balls than the Prius.

Having had a Toureg and a X5... and now with a Tribeca and a new Forrester i must say i do love the Subaru s.*
They have the best all wheel drive and can handle a lot of sketchy situations. The Forrester has more torque then a higher horse power Explorer.
I just got back from San Fran and had a Accura as a rental and it was a nice enough car but not really WOW.....

Stay from Nissan; I know of 4 people who have sunk thousands of dollars into their respective Altima's.

With regards to the Subaru, let me tell you a little story; my father had a two of them - both lemons. The NEWER of the two ate up three catalyic converters (at a cost of $1,200 each) in the span of 2 months. The car is equiped with 2 of them running in series (eg. one in front of the other). The first one that blew was the one closest to the exhaust pipe. A few months later, the one closest to the motor blew, and in the process, the contents of the aftermath of this explosion is sent to the second converter nearest to the exhaust (just replaced) due to the back pressure, and proceeds to blow it up. Nice eh? My father has a list of everything that has happened somewhere, and he swears that he is going to construct a website listing all of his repairs on the Subaru (about $12,000 worth). Subaru is an anomally within the eastern-produced cars (just like Saab from Europe). Can we get any stranger/uglier cars?

Anyways, stick with Acura and Honda. Sure, their parts may be expensive, but they never really need them (unlike Nissan and the beaten-with-an-ugly-stick Subaru). They retain their value, and have the best gearboxs (both manual and auto) coming from a Japanese nameplate.

what about the new saturn red line "sky" convertible i just saw in the star today?
Great looking exterior. Too bad about pour service. Decent value for the dollar. Most auto critic complain lack of truck space.

Love the '04/05 Altima, great value but compare to other import, no longer a stand out.

In terms of Lancer, great rally car, boring exterior. Mitsu need some exciting designs.

You're fooling yourself if you think Honda and Acura are bullet proof. There's plenty of problems with them. Auto trans failures being extremely high in TLs, etc.

All manufacturers have their problems, some just do a better job at minimizing the publicity their problems get.

How old was your dad's subie? The cats are covered under emissions warranty for, I believe 7years/150k.

That's only in Canada, where every parrots what auto journalists say. Mitsubishis have an extremely big following and are considered extremely cool and classic Japanese look, in the tradition of very enduring cars such as the mid 80's Cresida & Maximas.

I've had half a dozen co-workers over the years who went to the US specifically to buy a Mitsubishi and import it.

The Lancer is well known from video games, its straight lines makes it easy to accessorize with aftermarkt body kits and it's boxy rear end easily incorporates big factory or aftermarket spoilers, which would look irregular on todays NIssans, Hondas & Accuras.

I never said that Honda/Acura are bulletproof, and in terms of judging them against Nissan/Subaru/whatever, I'm going by 20 years of experience. There are also plenty of forums (eg. Carsurvey.com) where people discuss their problems so that the automakers can't hide (think of it as a Terb for cars).

My dad's subie was about 8-9 years old when it happened. Yes, the car was old, but still, how many "my cats blew up" stories have you heard in your life (cars or otherwise)? Like I said, strange......

Cheers
