The first game was supposedly played in the USA between Harvard and McGill (Harvard wanted to play with modified soccer rules, McGill wanted modified rugby rules.) In the end both sides agreed that McGill's rules were better.
Of course the US history ignores that if McGill was already using these rules they must have already played the game before introducing it to Harvard.

Many, many foreign aid projects funded via CIDA are agriculture and education based. Various 3rd world countries have some semblance of domestic food production due to Canadian efforts. Also, alot of 3rd world professionals receive training from Canadians as well as at Canadian universities. Health issues, from disease prevention, education, monitoring of food and water quality, are provided throughout 3rd world countries.
Alot of these efforts originate via the UN, farmed out to various countries foreign affairs ministries.
My question.... why do so many responses center on military accomplishments, or lack thereof.

canada doesnt really do much at the global level....we're in afghanistan just because we pledged a war on terror with the US after 9/11...had we been in iraq right now, the army wud've probably been smoked cuz we dont have enough soldiers to send overseas...we shud really build up our military...looking at trade, we do most of it, almost 90% with the US when there's plenty of scope elsewhere e.g. india & china, europe, so we dont really get to go out there at an international stage a lot....altho most of the world knows abt canada, we're often confused with the US.

We may have invented the zipper but a Japanese company has a near monopoly on them. If you check your zippers, you will find that a hell of a lot of them say YKK. You may be absolutely right about Superman. I don't know anything about the history. However, I did a quick google and this claims Joe Shuster was born in Toronto and went to Cleveland when he was 10.
