I refuse to consider it. The vile things should be banned and every plant and seed destroyed by fire on an altar dedicated to good taste.
Recipe for Brussels sprouts.

1. Soak a cedar plank overnight in water
2. Heat grill to 400°
3. Toss Brussels in olive oil, soy sauce and brown sugar.
4. Place Brussels sprouts on cedar plank and put on grill.
5. after 1 hour the plank should be completely charred and there will be a nice cedar aroma
6. Scrape off Brussels sprouts, and eat plank.

Personally, being single as well, I don't find the expense of groceries overwhelming. Costco is great for me as I just but 1 Item of dry goods of choice and can last months and months (Paper towels, cereal, mixed nuts etc). As for meat and fish, love the Costco Lasagna (last me like 3-4 days), along with some of there other made dishes. Fortino's has the best fish, and when its on sale, buy like 5-10 slabs and lasts for a month after freezing. Otherwise, fruits and veggies come straight from No Frills or Walmart. All in all gives me enough cash to still spend on our hobby lifestyle.

Family of three, I grocery shop around 1-2 times a week and the bill is usually around $100-150.
(I always get $20 cashback, and hide that away... it's my hubby fund!)

I've never been to a Farm Boy. How do you rate it. Is there anything about them that is distinctly different than all the other places that would make them an attractive option?
Good produce. Alabama Beef Short Ribs are to die for. Ours has a good bakery for bread. Good natural peanut butter. Pita crackers. Rosemary Lamb chops. Prepared Burgers. Good sausages. Decent Large meat pies. Occasional meat specials. So I go there first. Then my no frills for staples.

Ever notice how the brainwashed acolytes of Brussel sprouts cult always have to completely change and disguise the flavor of the vile things? I keep expecting people after they eat them to begin screaming like Donald Sutherland........

Just started keto last week.

I cook all the time and don't buy processed or precooked food.

I budget 200-300 every 2 weeks.

Live in the country and most of our food is from scratch, I do cheat and get a couple Costco bbq chicken that I then turn into casseroles, soups, chicken salad or chicken and sides. Would say 400.00 per month.

Produce is always good quality, better than the usual chains. Nice meat in the butcher counter and also in the regular cooler. Sometimes have a bit less usual stuff (eg veal tenderloin, etc). Prepared already cooked foods are quite good quality if you are into that. Nice bakery bread. Pleasant shopping environment overall. Prices IMO are not really any different than loblaw, metro etc. Downside is that they are only a food store. So if you need TP, laundry detergent etc, you’ll need to make another stop.

First a request.

Anyone have any recommendations on some sort of local store sale price app? Where I can get notices of when, say Kashi GoLean cereal goes on sale?
Nothing specifically answers your request, I am throwing these out there anyway.
For Amazon - Though I have never used it.

www.Redflagdeals.com - has a price alert option somewhere, the forums there are great for sales and recommendations.

Thanks Davie boy!

I check out Redflag deals forums too but try to keep away or else I'll buy more earbuds, air fryers, compressors and other shit I don't need! 🤣

Now that I think of it... I am going to check out the Flipp app my old gf put on my phone back when Walmart did price matching. I think they might have some item/price tracker feature/. There are a few things I buy that are stupid expensive at regular price but go on a good sale here and there every so often.

Farm Boy used to have quite a selection of cooked meals prior to the Pandemic. They also have a salad and hot bar cooking selection for a freshly prepared meal with your choice of proteins, sides like veggies and rice or pasta. Good value when you realize that you have no time to prepare a meal and need some groceries as well.

If you are eating legumes, try buying the dried ones and soaking them overnight and cooking them in your instant pot, instead of canned ones. You save more money that way, it is healthier and it tastes better.

Cut the brussel sprouts in half, and flash fry them. Then toss it with a mix of vinegar, paprika and salt.

Or, cook it in the air fryer and do the same seasoning. You will change your mind.
Or stick with the numerous other delicious vegetables that I can even eat raw.

It is hard to say, I buy in bulk when I can. If there is something on sale that I use often I buy as much as I can.
When Presidents choice coffee beans go on sale I buy 6 containers. Things like spaghetti sauce, pasta, unrefrigerated fruit juice can keep for many months. I probably save at least 33% by buying in bulk.

Yesterday, I saw a guy buy 20 pre made dinners at a grocery store at 3:00PM, with all the extra snacks and drinks he had he paid out over $250 at the cash register. I think he was having people over for Easter dinner.

I used to eat everything raw. But then I read that while you get more vitamins that way, you also get more antioxidents when cooked.
So now I have some raw and some steamed. And cooked tomatoes(15 minutes)gives you more lycopene for the old rusty prostate.
