You have a better chance of dying in a car crash
Should we ban cars next and lockdown highways
Such a ridiculous argument.

Do you think that covid provides any benefits our society? Cars are risk/reward heavily in favour of reward. Covid is 0% reward. There is zero benefit. The only benefit may be that it exposes those individuals of diminished intellectual capacity.

And if I may add, there is lots of laws/legislations/regulations on cars and their drivers from how they're made to how they're driven and everything in between.

I see the way the guy you quoted thinks, he must say this stuff as a joke...he can't consistently be that much of a moron on everything he says...how would he get thru a day.

Cars are a MASSIVE pollutant that has done more damage to our planet than anything else in history
The metals extracted from the earth to batteries that fill our landfills and poisonous gas for lights and lead in paints
And that's not even touching on the POLLUTION!

You ever heard the term Global Warming?
Covid maybe flavour of the year but many far more deadly things out there

Cars killed more people last year (worldwide) than Covid did this year (lol)

Please answer. Do cars/trucks provide a benefit to society?

Actually the chance of death from C-19 is greater than dying in a car crash.

The chance of death from C-19 to those at high risk re C-19 is - way way higher - than dying in a car crash.

Road vehicle accident fatalities are preventable. Many efforts have been made to reduce road fatalities, but more needs to be done. Increased policing, harsher punishments, banning alcohol & lower speed limits, etc, would reduce deaths significantly. Many cities have made efforts, or intend to, reduce traffic therein. Sweden has had a plan to reduce road fatalities to zero.

Getting in a car is a choice. There are safer ways to travel. Cars are safer if you are in one with a sober professional veteran driver.

OTOH you don't make the choice for a covidiot who puts your safety, health & life at risk.

Are your really trying to pretend that covid is a thing that many people require in their lives like cars are?

It is an irrelevant argument

Like asking do you prefer a psychopath or a sociopath to live in your neighbourhood

The fact is that:
A) Cars / Trucks have killed far more people than Covid did (the annual stats are pretty similar worldwide, both in the avg 1.3 million death range, but vehicles have a FAR longer history; killing 2 million in a single year is not as devastating as killing 1 million a year over a decade)
B) Cars / Trucks have done far more lasting / long term damage to peoples health due to pollutants, toxins, waste, etc

BTW as an FYI; go read up on Transposons
Most viruses actually have a long term POSITIVE net value on evolution
Its essentially culling the herd

That 1.3 million figure includes motorcycles, bicycles & pedestrian deaths, not just cars/trucks.

Covid has already killed closer to 2 million in less than a year, since official figures are probably significantly under estimated. Without extreme safety measures (lockdowns, etc) that would be more like 20 million.

Motor vehicle deaths are quite preventable. Measures could & should be taken to reduce that 1.3 million to a small percentage of that number. For example, governments have been paying people not to work who could be policing the roads.

Then we should just forget about vaccines, treatments & safety measures, eh? Just let people die?

It's a hundred % relevant. You proposed eliminating cars because they may cause death as does covid . You don't keep something if all it produces is bad outcomes, i.e. covid.

There are many benefits to our society from cars. As such we are willing to accept some risk and at the same time continually attempt to minimize the risk.

Please answer two questions.

1)Do cars provide some benefit to our society?
2)Does covid provide some benefit to our society?

Serious questions. Hope you have serious answers.

...
Most of yours are which is why you want to avoid the topic. Cars are permitted because their benefit to society outweighs their risk. Covid on the other hand has zero benefit which is why your comparison is as idiotic as your buddy who still claims covid isn't real.

There will be lots of people living out of their cars before covid is over. Because they've lost their house in foreclosure.

Nice scaremongering. How many people has this happened to Mr. self-proclaimed knowlegeable? There must be some stats. It's been 10 months so far and we should only have 6-8 months left.

But at least, as you've acknowledged, they will still be alive.
