"We Love Muslims"

Great response Jennifer. I concur with everything you have so intuitively stated. Unfortunately, it is like whipping a dead horse, as some people just don't get it. They time and again lump all the law abiding Muslims with the handful of ignorant, deranged and barbaric villains that are brainwashed into believing what they do. How pathetic is that?
It REALLY is pathetic.

I have to assume people that are so afraid of Muslims just don't know any- (or don't realize that they do in fact know People who are Muslim), that's really the only way I can excuse what they say. People are often afraid of what they don't know or understand.

This is why Trump is dangerous: just like when Ford wouldn't go to Pride and homophobes suddenly were not ashamed to spout off their homophobic views- now xenophobes feel like their ignorance is acceptable.

They can post all the biased "news" sources they like to justify their bigotry but those of us who actually have friends who are Muslim must say something.

The majority of Canadians supported left leaning parties in the last election- all of whom supported bringing in these refugees. You might not be able to see that based on social media (and on Terb), but those who are choosing to live in fear are truly the minority.

I'm far from an "elite", but I sure as hell do feel superior to those who choose to live in an ignorant bubble.

Sorry did not see your response, but I agree with everything that you have stated so eloquently.

The people you are speaking about are nominal Muslims - people who happen to be born in muslim countries but don't actually believe in or follow the values found in the Koran or the example of Muhammad. Probably 85% of people born in muslim countries are nominal Muslims.

The other 10%-15% would cut your head off in a flash. I'm quite sure you have probably never met any of them.

The depths of their depravity can simply not be underestimated.

There are religious wingnuts who follow every religion and turn it into something horrendous.

Most Muslim are just people, all those I've met here and through my travels are just people. Good people even.

But to blame the anger the middle east feels towards the west on religion is also lazy thinking and ignores decades of attacks on countries and between 1-2 million dead Muslims at the hand of western countries through attacks on Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria and support of despots in other countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Killing people and bombing their countries makes people angry.

Canada is having a hard time finding "refugees" willing to come to Canada, but with Germany now closing its boarders maybe they might be willing to come here.

Angela Merkel wants to 'drastically decrease' number of refugees coming to Germany
1 million people within a year. It'd be difficult to adsorb that many people who share a similar culture let alone an alien one. That's over 1/3 the population of Toronto and most refugees will take up residence in large city hubs.

The cultural and economic impact of this is something Germany will regret for years to come.

Merkel is a lunatic.

About 280 million people have been killed by islamic jihadis since 624 AD. This has been happening since Islam began - time to stop making excuses.

I agree the US should get out of the middle east but that alone will not solve the problem.

That will do more to stop terrorism in North America, where, in the US you are still more likely to be killed by a cop then by a terrorist.
