In the longer run Russia will be able to impose conditions on Ukraine and will thus incur a much lower cost of defending the eastern border. It will be able to pivot those resources to the Finnish border where Finland has decided it wants to be a threat to Russia after decades of peaceful neutrality. There will definitely be consequences for the Finns. It was a very stupid move.
There will be consequences to most if not all EU members plus
the UK who have sent military aid to Ukraine to kill Russians. I think
Canada will be fine though not withstanding Trudeau's stupidity
of giving away billions to Zelensky.

Russians are known for their hospitality to visiting guests. What is
perhaps lesser known to today's Europeans is that Russian people
also excels in exacting revenge on enemies. NATO minus the
U.S. will have to shore up military defence big time and pray that
Ukraine will never ever turn against them. They (Ukrainians and Russians)
hate each other for centuries and the west has exploited that
hatred to the fantistic result of having hundreds of thousands of
Slavs killed. They might have forgotten though the two people
are also closely tied to each other. They fought Charles XII
together in the 18th century, Napoleon 19th century and
of course Hitler in the last century. It is not unthinkable they
will end up fighting NATO together at some point in this century.

Yes the ledger in blood will have to be balanced. Russia knows peace with the USA is temporary. I expect they will take revenge on the USA in several ways, likely in the middle east. They know peace with the west should not be counted on. This is why they developed Oreshnik and you can bet they will give Iran that tech so they can counter Israeli nukes with a non-nuclear weapon.

The U.S. even if Trump is gone will have to seek cooperation
from Russia to contain Iran's nuclear threat to Israel. If Israel's
security is at stake it's American poodle will have to make
concession at Ukraine's expense. It remains to be seen how
much concession is to be made by Trump not just to spare
the U.S. Russia's vengeance but also to serve the interest of
his master in Jerusalem.

As a afterthought Putin will likely understand the U.S. is
not to be trusted. Once Iran's threat to Israel is eliminated with
Putin's cooperation the U.S. and NATO will get back at Russia
possibly using a rearmed Ukraine again as the proxy to retake
lost territories.

If the U.S. decides it is in its best interest not to abandon
Ukraine the right thing to do is to abandon Israel first. But that
is never to happen. Once a loyal dog, always a lapdog.

Russia has signed a security agreement with Iran that includes no nukes for Iran, so that's taken care off. But that won't stop the USA and Israel from attacking Iran. IMHO Iran should just go ahead and test a nuke
