You should go and help Russia and stand strong with Putin by his side, shoulder to shoulder. I'm sure they can use a well-versed critical thinker like yourself.
For Putin to win the war the most crucial factor is $$$ not
human resources supplemented by foreign volunteers.
Russia is and will be sufficiently funded so long as oil prices continue trading
around the current level. With Saudi and Iran on its side and Iraq more closely
tied to China and Russia than to the west you can be assured that OPEC+ will
remain on Putin's side. China and India won't worry about OPEC+ further tightening
oil supply as they can get their oil and gas from Russia at discount prices. Oil prices
trading in the range of $70--$80 already offset impact of price capping imposed
by the west. Oil prices rising further to around $100 which is likely within this year
would offset as well drop in Russia's production capacity resulting from sanctions
which itself would give further support to a floor oil price around the current level.
Ongoing de-dollarisation to be catalysed by confiscation of Russian USD assets would
stimulate price of gold which is already trading at all time high and boost the value of
Putin's reserve as well as putting money into the pockets of people in a nation of gold
and silver bullion bugs which Russia and its friend India are. Barring a global depression
rest assured that Russia's economy will survive the war into 2024. And if the war is
prolonged further rising prices of commodities in demand by growing global green
industry would be welcomed by Putin as well.
Morale of Russian soldiers are nowhere as high as defenders against
their invasion in Ukraine. But it is not morale but keeping up with production
of tanks, missiles and ammunition that is essential for Russia to fight
on if not to win. Putin still has military manpower in reserve which he
can deploy when desperate.
Situation in Ukraine is a different story. Material support to Ukraine while
steady so far is by no means guaranteed. Biden is going to face the
uncertainty in winning the 2024 election and Europe a potential energy
crunch in the coming winter. Both could be factors in people's support
of the war on Ukraine's side slipping. And this is where your moral support
of Ukraine could make a difference.
I am surprised to my embarrassment to find out no less than
200+ oversea fighters made the ultimate sacrifice in Ukraine so far.
Earlier I was aware of only 2 Canadians and one Taiwanese who
died fighting there. I even poked fun at them which I now regret.
To atone my guilt I will call on people to join those fallen freedom
fighters whenever there is an opportunity to do so. Seriously, sacrifice
made by volunteering fighters from NATO member states could truly
make a difference in Ukraine's situation. Biden and NATO is already
guilty of not treating Zelensky like a member of an alliance for real
when he is in desperate need of more resources to win the war. At
current level of support he is fighting a war of attrition to no end.
People joining Ukraine to fight the Adolph Hitler of our time can at
least dissuade our leaders from abating ongoing support ever. It
could turn out to be crucial to Zelensky's survival if Putin's war
machine continued to be well financed by elevated commodity prices.
A coward dies a thousand deaths, a hero dies but once. If you opt
not to fight on Zelensky's side you can still escape dying again and
again by helping Ukraine out in one other way. It is time for Canada
to impose sanction against Putin's friend Saudi Arabia. By demanding
our government to ban import of Saudi oil (and that of Iran as well if
we are buying crude from them) to Quebec and Ontario Saudi will be
forced to sell their unwanted oil to China and India at below-market
prices and lose profits. That would be lovely.
