Russia really needs to throw in the towel and go home.

Russia can go home and the war can still carry on. It is up to
Zelensky to decide when the war is to end at least according
to Hillary Clinton. Of course it is also up to NATO to decide when
to end our support. So Trudeau may have to look to Biden for
leadership at some point.

Hillary Clinton urges Canada to keep up support for Ukraine,
........................
Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told Liberals to keep supporting Ukraine, arguing the battle against Russia is a battle that the whole world can’t afford to lose.
................................................................................................
“Ukraine’s fight for freedom and against Russian aggression is our fight. It is not just their fight,” she said. “The best way to end Putin’s aggression is for Ukraine to win.”
.............................................................
She said a win against Putin in Ukraine will also cool China’s ambitions to potentially invade Taiwan.

She said Ukrainians should be the only ones who decide when the war ends and they should have the west’s support until then.

I am not sure if I understand what you meant to say. Did I
say Zelensky ever invaded Russia in my post? Zelensky never
invaded Russia and may still continue fighting the invader
if Putin throws in the towel and go home. I am suggesting
this as one possible outcome of the war. It is another
possibility Zelensky would immediately stop fighting if
Putin gives in tomorrow and run away? But can you be
sure of such scenario?

Since we agree that Zelensky and Ukraine were not the aggressors in this war, why on earth would you believe they would want to continue fighting if Putin and Russia call it quits, stop launching missiles, and go back home?

Retaking lost territories, war reparation demand, arresting Putin for war
crimes, revenge and Biden's order to fight on could be some of the possible
reasons the war will turn out to be more protracted than expected. One
possible outcome is the war will be ended in Putin's term. In such scenario
fighting will cease at least temporarily.

NotADoctor wanted more proof, there's a reason why the Iranians were seizing oil tankers at the Strait of Hormuz.

Perhaps the Iranians can help Putinesca build a large wooden badger.

More business for world's merchants of death. Ukraine will have
to pay back with blood and some day their natural resources.

Germany Unveils $2.9B Weapons Package for Ukraine
MAY 14, 2023

Germany is preparing a new weapons package for Ukraine worth 2.7 billion euros ($2.9 billion), reportedly Berlin’s largest since Russia invaded last year, the defense ministry said Saturday.

“We all hope for a rapid end to this terrible war by Russia against the Ukrainian people, but unfortunately this is not in sight,” Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said in a statement.

“This is why Germany will supply all the help that it can, for as long as necessary,” he said.

The package, worth $3 billion, will include 30 additional Leopard-1 tanks, Marder armored vehicles, air-defense systems, and surveillance drones, the ministry said.

Der Spiegel magazine said it would be Germany’s largest since the outbreak of the war.

It comes as Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to travel to Rome on Saturday for talks with political leaders, which could be followed by a trip to Berlin.

German officials have not confirmed the visit, but Berlin police have opened an inquiry after details of a possible trip attributed to the force appeared in the media.

Western allies have delivered increasingly powerful weapons to Kyiv since Russia sent its forces into Ukraine in February 2022, though so far not the advanced fighter jets that Zelensky has requested.

Germany last year provided military support worth two billion euros and had earmarked 2.2 billion euros for this year, though details had not yet been finalized.

Berlin has also promised to supply its more advanced Leopard-2 tanks, and has begun training Ukrainian soldiers on their use.

I see, so Biden would "order" Zelensky to keep fighting even after a Russian retreat?

Let me ask you, you are in Zelensky's dancing shoes and Russia has crossed in with their Military operation (aka illegal invasion of a sovereign country) what do you do,

A) keep your dancing shoes on and welcome Russia in with open arms

B) Dawn on a pair of Army boots, ask, beg, and charm the West into helping the cause

C) if A and B do not fit into your view of the situation, please, enlighten me with what Zelensky should have done.

also while we are asking questions, what is the right course of action Biden and Nato should have followed?

Go ahead, you are in charge, let's hear it because obviously Zelensky, Biden, Nato have been doing this all wrong

No, they should not worry about re-stocking and manufacturing anything so they can also be inept as Russia has been on the field and be handcuffed when the next despot dictator decides to illegally invade a sovereign country. I'm a little bit surprised at why you would be complaining because as far as I know, most tanks and military equipment run on oil and gas. If anything you should be jumping up and down for joy.

Once the battleline stagnated, obviously a 3rd choice of long term guerilla warfare in the captured regions should be on the table.

Oil&gas is strange in that half his posts are pro and half his posts are anti when it comes to the oil industry and the same with global warming. Early on in my dealings with them I asked what they actually believed and supported and despite multiple attempts I never got an answer. Kinda like how I ask about the choice of line breaks and never get an answer.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn it's a shitty AI at this point.

I think they oscillate between gloating about the money/power and guilt for what they've done.

NATO members have been providing aid to Ukraine on the cheap so far. I am
fiscally conservative and I have no issue with the volume of financial and material
aid Trudeau has sent to Ukraine. I don't usually support Trudeau but I can see we
would be on Ukraine's side if Harper was the one in charge. We and our southern
neighbour have also benefited from the war in some ways. Germany had to outsource
some of its manufacturing business to us due to rising energy cost and the U.S. LNG
export business has also profited from the war. I am not suggesting such outcomes
of the war are to be celebrated. But in a way it does make any monetary loss incurred
by obligations to support Ukraine tolerable.

As far as I can see continuation of support of Ukraine as it is now is the best course
of action from Biden and NATO's standpoint. It is the path of least resistance for the
west to take out Putin. Of course the war may run its course on a different path from what
I predict. Perhaps Biden and NATO will step up support of the war when Putin finally
gives up. Biden doesn't have to order Zelensky to pursue Putin's retreating army. He and
NATO just have to reward Ukraine with the prospect of more generous terms of
post-war aid and the right to full vengeance. It is also possible support of Ukraine
will wane at some point if the war drags on.

Asking me how I would do things if I were in charge of NATO is akin to asking
a church minister how he would run a brothel. NATO is a colossal money wasting
venture that should be dissolved in my view.
