Does terb have any U2 fans present? If so, I've read what appears to be some rather constructive criticism from a particular dolt who decided to spew his lack of knowledge regarding a great band known to many around the world.
While the American and English bands of the sixties were a result of civil rights movement and Vietnam, U2 grew out of the Irish situation. The parallels are enormous between early U2 and the Jefferson Airplane, Doors, etc of a decade or so earlier.
I believe that U2 broke down the eigthies cliché of pseudo new romantic hairdos singing in falsetto, or the regular MTV pop song standard plenty of synclaviers and electronic drumming. That was a good thing. And then, they became a very popular rock band with good songs and a somehow studied atittude: the sort of thing that generates ¨love them or hate them¨postures.
But I´m very grateful for the music that they crafted. And it became the soundtrack of interesting moments of my life.
However, what I present to you all this very moment is a post made by an angry person? a delusional person? someone confused about music? Or all of the above?
Here is that post: U2: Need I say more, a critic manufactured band for the weak minded. Bono will tell anyone that wants to listen how “relevant” he thinks they are to music (sure pal) and that they are “just a poor little band from Ireland” (ok pal). In 25 years has the bas player and drummer ever been on the same page in a song as far as a rhythm section goes (hell no). The scam called the Edge hasn’t learned more than 1 fucking effect on his guitar and has the WORST vibrato in music, but hey when a credible magazine like Rolling Stone (LOL) call you the best, hey all of the no minds will believe it, and with this new high school band sounding album with their version of Loverboy’s “Everybody’s Working For The Weekend” (Verttigo), not to mention that ever annoying All Because of You, they could easily get 1-5 on my list..They just suck.
Can someone reply to this post? I will personally post the best response to this nonsense and forward it to this music board. I know there must a true die hard U2 fan or two here! Let's hear from you people!
