so what are you going to do if you look in your window and see some bum going into your car to steal a pair of sunglasses? Do you have any idea what you are entitled to do legally in Ontario?
Yes I do know what I can do. I can't do much. That's my point.

How many gun owners are trained to the MARSOC level? But I'm sure a gun safety course does just as well. Again, people who put their life on the line for their car or TV are plain dumb.
I agree but what about their loved ones? Like your wife or children who you can't defend because your guns need to be locked up in your home

Why bother having a gun then if you cannot use it in confrontations?

I'm not saying they don't come they are just not in a hurry because most of them are false. I.E an animal trips the alarm, someone forgets the password. Examples like that.
It is rare for an alarm to be tripped off these days. The sophistication in the system can differentiate between so called animal trip ups and the real burglar.
We can now monitor it on our cellphones right away and accordingly turn off the alarms remotely if needs be!!

How many times has a pizza delivery guy been shot? As far as loved ones go I'm not sure of the number but the number of unintentional deaths by gun in the U.S per year is 495. Mostly by careless, untrained people
If I remember right, unintentional shootings in Canada peaked in 2005 or 2015 at 49 for the year.
Don't need more guns in a household to increase this number.

Ah I see, so you're saying accidently shooting a loved one or deliver dude has never happened to a legal gun owner in North America??
This happened about 6 years ago at my bosses house.
While he was away in Florida his son went to his girlfriends and told his sister he was going to spend the night, they were twins each being 19 years old.
The girl asked her girlfriend to come and spend the night watching movies and doing whatever girls do together.
The son decided to not spend the night at his friends after an arguement.
When he got home he came through the back patio door and went to the fridge to get a drink and make a sandwich.
The girls upstairs heard the noise and called 911. In fear his sister grabbed a hockey stick and waited at the top of the stairs as he started to climb with his sandwich and drink.
He didn't bother to turn the lights on and thought his sister was sleeping so he tried to be quiet going up the stairs.
She hit him across the fore head with the hockey stick sending him backwards down the stairs.
He ended up with a concussion, seperated shoulder, 3 broken ribs, and a cracked wrist as well as cuts from the broken glass he landed on.
Good thing she didn't have acess to a gun.

Again, that is pure paranoia. It is essentially unheard of in Canada for people to break into homes to kill families. And yes, with the level of tactical training and experience dealing with high pressure situations people have, they are just as likely to shoot their family themselves.

You are more likely to win the lottery then get a home invasion.

Spend your money on lottery tickets instead, you'll be thinking about spending money instead of killing people.

Not sure about that. I think a home invasion is more likely here, especially if you have guns in the home. They always make a big deal of any lottery winnings, but the last I saw in the paper was some guy in the southtowns and it was less than $million. Several home invasions a month - usually after drugs and guns...

You may be right, but the odds are in the same range. Lightning strike, death by lego, home invasion, winning the lottery.
The point remains though, if you're going to spend your days and money fixated on the chances of something very unlikely happening to you, why not fixate on something positive?

If you own a gun in Canada and follow the rules, how would you have access to your firearm in time if someone invades your home?

I see, so you two would prefer we were like the US? An occasional grocery store or school mass shooting is good for the soul if we all can have a gun.

Then we can all happily say THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS, yahooooooo.....

Wow. lmao
Canada's gun laws are more tight than US gun laws...nothing needs fixing in our side of the border. Canadian's aren't gun lovers like Americans are...
