over the years the TTC has NOT settled only 5% of the time that is a very high success rate. The strike wasn't over wages buy contracting out. Let's
remember at arbitration they just might get a better deal. PS: knowone likes a strike it doesn't matter who it effects. It was a legal strike so cannot fire anyone, oh ya the TTC is looking for drivers so sign up.

There have been layoffs at the TTC. They also had work cut during Rae days. What a surprise, another misinformed person who is jealous that TTC employees make more.

You still pissed at Rae days ? lol You reall are a dinosaur - get with the times buddy.

It would be poetic justice if the arbitrator cut from the current offer.

It's rep[orted in a couple of places today that internal union politics are being blamed for a lot of the problems. Kinear's lack of judgement in the timing of the strike isn't going to help him .If I were a union member I ask for him to be fired. Or will he just file a grievence :p ?

No I'd wait until the next election for president I'm not sure how many years he last left not sure on his term length. Arbitrators are there to make a fair
deal that should be good for BOTH sides of teh table

I am young enough to have been unaffected by Rae days. When I worked at the TTC, few workers voted for strikes. Most are happy with the wages and benefits. Kinear's a young guy who isn't well liked by the dinosaurs. Who knows what really goes on behind the scenes.

the maintenance guts reportedly did not like the idea that warranty work on the new busses would be done by the manufacturer. That to my mind is patently stupid. The TTC read taxpayers are paying for the warranty why on earth would you not use it ?

The folks asking the public to be nice to the transit workers have got it backwards. Ask the transit workers to be nice to the public.

Well -they got legislated back. I have no use for these farking people -100k a year, with all the benefits under the sun to drive a a frigging bus? Nice.

oh would you people just stop. The base salary is $55 K not $100k. The few that made $100k had zero lives they worked almost everyday and had multible double shifts to get to $100k. I asked a co worker that made over 100 k and he had 3 days off all year. he even came in a few days while he was on vacation. yes that can happen when you drive subway. The overtime in subway is huge, you have only a limited amount that can drive the trains. of those alot do not want overtime and refuse. But the others that do overtime cram so many hours in i am amazed they stay awake. How the TTC is allowed to let them work that many hours is crazy too. The collector that did $100k at lest he is not driving all those hours.

You have a point there.

I've never disagreed with unions, however, in the TTC case, they have a very fair offer on the table, now stop fucking around.

AS far as I am aware, there's never EVER been a lay off at the TTC, so these guys are worried over the impossible.

sorry to say you are wrong there has been layoffs before, a few times. Also in 1996 the union agreeed to 3 year wage progression for new hires to not have more layoffs that year.

And???? And??? $55k as a starting salary for unskilled labour is pretty damned good. You know how many people would love to start at $55k?? The unions protect these morons from the real world where unskilled workers barely make a living wage.

Do you have any clue how much education every ttc driver or collector has? NO you don't. We have all kinds of professions working here from enginners to former teachers, pilots, police officers. bussiness majors and the list just keeps going. If your jealous get off you a butt and go apply.
