The problem is his base aren't bright enough to understand even the basics, that consumers pay those tariffs, not the manufacturers or country of origin.
The childcare rambling was pretty epic.

The debate tonight should be fun, wonder what the odds are that another candidate is toast afterwards.

Why are you deflecting to Canada? Is that what you do when the truth about the topic at hand is too much for you to accept?

Trump's tariffs on China were criticized.
Biden kept those tariffs and added more...no criticism.
Trudeau added tariffs on China..no criticism.

Biden cancelled the XL pipeline and it negatively impacted Canada...no criticism.

See the hypocrisy trend?

See you cannot even answer a question related to tariffs, and imposed against Canada. Of course it has to be a concern for our trade, and that is why Canada had to go tit for tat against Trump's tariffs!!
Trudeau just added the tariffs against EVs and related components, besides the steel and aluminium. This was because China was violating the trade regulations with its protectionism. That is why not only Canada, but the EU Nations and countries have also imposed these tariffs. Remember that the only EV brand that is currently affected by the Canadian tariffs is the Tesla that is manufactured in China. Now those tariffs imposed by Trump was not done in unison with The EU or Canada. In fact he slapped those tariffs on Canada and The EU. Who paid the price for those tariffs. Not China as Trump falsely claimed even in the debate with Harris, but The American people paid the price for it. You are the one deflecting with the XL pipeline. If it was in danger of contaminating the drinking water of those lands, then Biden had every right to cancel it. Of course we all hoped that he did not do so!!

Of course they do as China will raise prices to compensate for the tariff. However that could lead to increased competition with the likes of India, Vietnam, the Philippines etc. which is a benefit to consumers in the end.
If the tariffs on China were not justified then why didn't the Obama/Harris administration eliminate them?

If China raises prices on products with tariffs they become even more expensive for US consumers and less likely they will buy them.

That's just one piece and it's barely a majority...the more important piece is this one:
