Justin Trudeau was asked "which nation's administration he admired most" at last night's women only fundraiser

“There is a level of admiration I actually have for China, ahh, because their basic dictatorship is allowing them to actually turn their economy around on a dime and say we need to go green as fast as, we need to start, you know, investing in solar — there is a flexibility that I know Stephen Harper must dream about: having a dictatorship where you can do whatever you wanted, that I find quite interesting.”

You call it dictatorship. Its basically just a strong leadership. A country united under a dictator is better than a divided democracy. The US under pres. Kennedy was a strong united country, he needed not be a dictator to get things done. But the US today is divided, pres. Obama can't get anything changed without congress disapporval.

David Akin also called him out on it: http://blogs.canoe.ca/davidakin/pol...tin-trudeau-most-admires-you-wont-believe-it/

Trudeau also mentioned the three territories (by name) as not having political parties, and therefore being admired by him. Doesn't matter, apparently, that the Liberal Party website shows a picture of Trudeau with the leader of the Yukon Liberal Party (yes, the Yukon does have political parties).

Trudeau had more than a few defenders today, too. Some claimed he was joking (and that given the night's billing as more or less a fan-girls opportunity to swoon that they should never have expected a serious answer to a serious question). A few claimed that there is no good answer to the question. (After all, who has heard of Scandinavia, or Switzerland. Or admires Germany, or even some of the lesser-known African countries who have a growing democracy in a difficult environment. Or admires Australia, New Zealand, or any of a wide selection of other countries.)

Others suggested that it was somehow the fault of the Conservatives. Still others, that it was China's environmental record that he admired. (Really. Not like China opens one new coal-fired power plant every week, and have smog thick as soup.) At least he didn't say that it was their human rights record that made him admire China's administration most in all the world. While Tiananmen Square serves as a reminder to the world of the brutality of the regime in China, it's still an administration Trudeau manages to admire most in all the world.

Trudeau himself took to twitter to say in effect that he didn't really mean any of it. Apparently, the country he admires most excluding Canada, is Canada.

This guy wants to be Prime Minister.

You do know this was a jab at Harper, right?

Look at the ammo Trudeau has given Harper!!! Just wait for the ads from the Conservative Party of Canada featuring Trudeau's quotes about the Chinese dictatorship

With comments like that from Trudeau, he may be a closet Conservative (trying to hand the next election to Harper!)
Just like the last time Harper tried to use a quote from Trudeau , something about Quebec was the best, then to have it blow up in Harpers face when it was shown to be artfully edited. Or like Harpers crew showing Trudeau stripping, taking his shirt off, then it was shown to be for charity. How about their making fun of Cretien's speech impediment? That worked well.

Yup, Trudeau is doing such a bad job, but the Conservative keep dropping and the Liberals keep rising.

Calling him a drama teacher is like calling Harper a mailboy.

I assumed you dismissed Justin's answer as jest directed at Harper.
But I guess you do believe in a dictatorship for Canada as long as Justin's on top, or any Lib for that matter.
Or is it anybody but Harper and Conservatives for our Benevolent dictator.
