The whole renew license thing is just a tax grab, 80$ to take your picture and give you a new card... I could see if the 80$ if they made you do another road test every 5 years, lord knows there are lots of people on the road that should have never passed their first test.

One more thing because of the MTO strike my G license is only good for 3 years before it expires rather than 5. I mean come on 3 years!!! I'm not going to look that different the greedy government just want money. I drove with for 7 years with the same 16 year old photo of myself on my g2 license (usually 5 year period for a G1 to G but because of the strike I was delayed for almost 2 years) I was just going drive with an expired license for 2 years and renew it in the proper 5 year time frame but with the cops and their fancy license plate camera I guess I'm just gonna learn to take it up the ass like the rest of you when it comes to giving money to the government for stupid things. 80$ for a crappy picture and a piece of plastic I really can't believe a lot of you are ok with this.

The fee isn't for just the license, it goes towards paying for the services the MTO provides.

Don't like the fee? You have two choices.... convince the politicians to change the law or don't renew your license.

Those choices suck more than paying the fee. Which I guess is the point.

Some of them never wrote the exam nor took the driving test. They just bought the license for $300 to 500 bucks through brokers. I know quite a few of them.

How exactly is this done legally?
Driving school instructors have their own connections. Just figure out how did some of those new immigrants got their licenses without being able to read or speak a word of English. The retired prostate specialist from SRM and a few of her friends got their licenses the same way. They all told me they didn't even need to go for the test drive, just went there to get their pictures taken.
