Friendly word of advice, when you use language like this, you greatly lessen the chance of a polite reply.
---------------------

Thanks. I see that I forgot to include: What can I do to FUCKING minimize or eliminate this annoying traffic ticket charge? * Just kidding. Hahaha

A simple request for advice and out comes the bashers, haters, righteous do-gooders/never wrongers and the few common sensible constructive helpers.

We can all learn that we all make mistakes. It's how we handle them that makes us stronger in the future.

Cheers!

Did you get a summons or a ticket? If it is summons, then it will be a first appearance to set a trial date.. I think they will be willing to drop the charge to unable to produce drivers lic. or something minor which is $150. How long out of date was it?
Summons was 9 months and trial date is just over 1 year and 28 days from the original traffic ticket infraction.

My advice: Suck it up, pay the fine, and don't do it again.
Thanks. I will pay the fine.
However, there are extraordinary circumstances that caused me to forget to renew my driver's license as opposed to deliberately drive without one.

In over 20 years of driving, it's the 1st time I didn't renew on time. Your comments 'don't do it again' makes it sound like I'm a repeat offender. Hahaha

It's amazing from the comments from this board that we can tell how some people think they are 'judge, jury and executioner' all in one mindset. Crazy! :)

You may have a shot at a consitutional challange although I think the time period is marginal.....in this case, tell the prosecutor your exceptional circumstances and he/she will probably offer you a decent deal... if they are a real dickhead....tell the circumstances to the JP...but only the prosecutor can change the charge, the JP can only reduce the fine and extend payment period.

If your license has been suspended/canceled for a valid reason then I am all for having the person to pay to renew their license (and retake some driving courses/exams).

However, renewing your license is nothing but a tax grab.

If the government is organized enough to prevent you from getting your plate sticker renewed due to an unpaid bill to the privately owned 407, then surely to goodness they should be able to cancel your license, plate sticker and notify your insurance carrier in the event that your license is suspended.

That's too funny!

The guy is trying to weasel his way out of the fine while at the same time saying he has "learned his lesson." Learning the lesson is paying the fucking fine!!! NOT trying to find a loophole or a way out of it.

When people say society is going to hell in a handbasket... this is the poster child. His warped view of right and wrong has gotten to the point that he doesn't even realize there's anything wrong with trying to weasel out of his punishment.

No. License renewal is bullshit. Just another way for the government to nickel and dime citizens. The OP pays his auto insurance and has been driving for 20 years. Oops, he overlooked renewal. Big fucking deal.

I'm not trying to find a loophole. But hey, you can call me a weasel just cause if it makes you feel better.
Did I say I'm trying to weasel out of my traffic ticket? I'm more than willing to pay the fine but with an explanation and hopefully a lenient prosecutor and jp will not give me the maximum fine or demerit points.

My real concern that my car insurance not go up!
I'll pay the fine but I'll be thankful never to ask you for positive advice. :p

My request for constructive advice is seen as a free-for-all critics who NEVER ever make a mistake in their lives?! Hahaha

Anyway, continue to shoot the messenger if you will. I'm probably more responsible than you'll ever realize.

No point in casting me in hell.....oh, BTW which website blog are we on? Hypocrites can never see fault with themselves?

Remember, when you point a finger at me, you'll actually pointing 3 fingers back at yourself!

Peace. Over and out.

Did you fix the problem immediately? Was it just an oversight and not intentional? Was it due to poverty?
If so, perhaps guilty with an explanation.
--------------------

Yes, it was a shock to me! I was stopped on a Sunday afternoon right after leaving church?!
*Insert sarcasm........Yes, think of the carnage I was creating for not having a renewed driver's licence??

I was not allowed to drive home but had to ask family to come and drive my car back to my home.
I addressed it immediately by taking the transit to the nearest licensing office to renew my driver's licence.

Anyway, whatever I say on this board I'm GUILTY for making the mistake of not renewing my driver's licence on time.
How many years in the pen will I get for this??

Request disclosure on the day of the trial. Have the JP adjorn to a later date.

The problem with this is, then you have to take two days off work to show up for the joy of traffic court, which of course has an economic value.

That;s an Askov challenge and not a chance at that time frame in Traffic Court
Yeah, probably need at least 18 months for that....typical of our legal system, it is vague, highly subjective and any JP can decide it does not apply for a variety of reasons...

Very dependant on the JP, they may order the prosecutor to give you the disclosure right there and give you a 3 hour stay to review it... if you dick around the JP they will not be happy. Some are super nice, some are jerkoffs.

Why were you stopped?
-------------------------------
Your guess is good as mine?

I was travelling 50 km/hr, maybe a bit too slow on that slushy Sunday.
I guess the police were doing a routine licence plate check?
